Dear SMCS Families,

Thank you for being such a thoughtful and generous community! It has been wonderful to see all of the food donations come in with the students. Catholic Charities is going to really appreciate the donations during this holiday season.

Thank you for all your support with our COVID safety protocols and practices. As of this week, we have had eight lab-confirmed COVID cases in our school community. We have been very fortunate to have had such a low number of cases.

The CDC is predicting a surge in COVID cases during and after the holiday season. We are doing what we can to prevent the spread of the virus in our school, we cannot control outside influences, but we again ask for your assistance.

If we work together and take the necessary precautions during the holidays, we will have better control of our students' and staffs' exposure to the COVID virus.  As always, keeping your children and our staff safe while here at school is and always will be our top priority.

If you are traveling outside of the state of Texas during the holidays, we ask that you provide a negative PCR COVID  test before returning to school.  The test should be taken once you have returned to the Houston area after your travels.  Minute Maid Stadium offers free PCR COVID testing for those who make an appointment online, results take 24-72 hours to come back.  Ascent Emergency Medical Center, 2280 Holcombe in Houston, offers the PCR test with same day results.  Their phone number is 713-821-2360.

Please feel free to contact Nurse Diaz with any questions or concerns about COVID.

Thank you for your continued support. I hope you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Blessings,
Dr. Kathleen Cox

St. Michael Catholic School Annual Fund

Thank you to those families who have already generously donated to the Annual Fund! Every gift of any amount is greatly valued and appreciated.  Remember that all current family gifts and pledges count towards overall family participation and individual grade level participation.  This year's theme, Anchored in Faith, reminds us that our Catholic Faith is central and at the core of the St. Michael experience.  A gift to the Annual Fund is a symbol of our commitment to the Mission of St. Michael Catholic School.

To learn more about the Annual Fund or to make a gift, please visit the Annual Fund Website. Annual Fund questions may be directed to Director of Development Laura Dols, at [email protected].

How does the Annual Fund help teachers?
Stacy McBride, Art Teacher, Middle School
Middle School Art Teacher, Stacy McBride, recognizes that our students are blessed with the opportunity to work with an abundance of materials and supplies in art class. This is made possible by the generosity of St. Michael Catholic School donors. Students work with the tools needed to create their art work such as clay, glazes and the use of a kiln and much more! These resources help to motivate and expose our students to a more robust art experience. Ms. McBride also appreciates the opportunity to enhance her teaching skills through professional development opportunities such as the yearly Texas Art Educators Association conference. This conference presents the latest products and methods to help enhance a students ability to create art in the classroom. Thank you the SMCS donors for helping make a difference in the quality of education our students receive!

Tiger Track
Give Back

Tiger Track to Give Back is our way of giving back to our community while staying safe!  The PLUS Social committee hopes you are enjoying visiting local businesses who have supported St. Michael!  Tiger Track Give Back flyers were distributed in folders two weeks ago. As you consider your shopping needs, or when deciding on a local restaurant for dine-in or take out, we invite you to visit the businesses on our Tiger Track as St. Michael's way of saying thank you!

Families who shop 5 or more of these businesses will earn a free dress pass for your students. At checkout, ask for a signature on your Tiger Track. Please turn in the flyer to your homeroom teacher by Wednesday, December 2nd. Flyers are applicable to the entire family. Help thank these local businesses for supporting SMCS while showing our Tiger Pride by posting your photos on social media and tag St. Michael Catholic School and the local business! #SMCSSUPPORTS
