This is a time for teachers to share important information regarding a student's academic progress. This year, all conferences will be conducted virtually via Zoom. Look for more details coming from your child's teacher(s).

Elementary Conferences will be conducted Monday, November 9 through Friday, December 4. Sign ups will be provided by the classroom teacher.

Middle School conferences will be conducted Monday, November 16 through Friday, December 4. Assigned conference times will be provided by the homeroom teacher.

MIA Enews November 20 2020

In this season of thanks and celebration of the birth of Jesus, Mariners Institute of the Arts is excited to share the gifts and hard work of our students. Due to current restrictions, large gatherings are not permitted. Our traditional Christmas productions may look different but the "show will go on!" Enjoy this video introduction or the attached letter which include exciting details about our Christmas celebrations. Stay tuned for more details which will be provided by teachers in early December. We are so thankful and excited to celebrate and praise the Lord for the best gift ever, Jesus!

Come and join us in prayer over our school, staff, teachers, and fellow MCS families. Parents in Prayer is foundational to the beloved community of MCS. It is an honor to join together to pray over the school and love those we are placed to specifically pray for. PiP is committed to being a protected space where needs can be confidentially covered in prayer. God's word says, "Wherever two or more gather in my name, there I am with them" Matthew 18:20. We invite staff and parents to submit any prayer request as it would be a gift to lift all needs to God. If you would like to submit a prayer request or be included in the communication for Parents in Prayer please contact Dana Fiori and Chris Blue at: [email protected]

Elementary Chapel

Mrs. Drevlow challenged our elementary students to prepare their hearts for Thanksgiving by using Ps. 23:1. Even though the circumstances around us can look bleak and lacking, with The Lord as Our Shepherd, we can be confident that He will provide for our needs. Enjoy these two videos used in chapel as part of your family Thanksgiving reflective time.

Christmas Toy Collection

As the Christmas season approaches, we know that this year has brought new challenges to families like never before. In an effort to be the hands and feet of Jesus to struggling families in underprivileged neighborhoods, this year we are again partnering with the amazing organization of Project Giving Light! These kids do not typically receive Christmas gifts outside of what Project Giving Light provides for them. Our hope is to stock Project Giving Light with gifts to bless families during this Christmas season, and show these kids that they are both seen and loved. More details to come after the Thanksgiving Break!

Note: If you have a middle school student, their gift must be on campus with them the morning of Monday, 12/7, which is the middle school Wrap 'N Pray Chapel.

Turkey Bowl: Black vs Teal Competition

Today our 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students got to partake in the annual Turkey Bowl! It was filled with tough competition, some close calls, and a lot of school spirit! We love seeing our students wearing our school colors of Teal and Black. The two teams are scored on winning the games and showing great participation. Most importantly they are scored on having a Christ like attitude and showing good sportsmanship, both on and off the field. This year was filled with some tough competition but in the end ..... the BLACK team came out victorious! Congratulations to the BLACK team!
Share2Wear

Our students answered the call to "share" a cash donation to Project Giving Light in such a generous way! Middle School collected $1,084.45 to go towards giving birthday celebrations including cake, cards, gifts, and parties to underprivileged kids who otherwise, don't get their birthdays celebrated. These kids will have the light and love of Jesus shown to them, as they feel both seen and loved during their birthday celebration.  What a gift MCS is giving to these kids and families!
Christmas Toy Drive: December Share2Wear

For our next Share2Wear coming up in December, we will again partner with Project Giving Light through a Christmas Toy Collection. These Project Giving Light kids do not typically receive Christmas gifts outside of what PGL provides for them. Our December Share2Wear will take place in congruence with our Wrap 'N Pray Chapel on Monday, 12/7. Their gift must be on campus with the student that Monday morning. Students will both "share" AND "wear" that day, by bringing their gift for the Toy Collection AND dressing in Tacky Christmas attire, as they joyfully wrap the gift they brought and pray over the child who will receive it. More details to come after the Thanksgiving Break! But for now, enjoy the sneak peek from last year's photos to get a glimpse at what happens that morning!
Chapel Recap

In our Middle School Gratitude Chapel this week, students each wrote their answers to the following 3 questions:

1. How have you seen God work in your life this year?
2. How has your faith in God grown this year?
3. What are you thankful to God for this year?

Each student was then given the opportunity to share out with their peers what they are grateful to God for this year, and how they have seen Him working in their lives.  It was powerful to hear the testimonies of God moving in our students, and to see the courage displayed by our students to speak out loud what they are grateful for.
