Dear Friends,
Good morning, St. Joes. I hope the weekend provided your family with time to relax and enjoy some outdoor recreational opportunities. Our action-packed weeks of events continue with Freshman Class Activity Day, Pizza and Prayer, Sophomore Spring Fling and yes – Prom and Post Prom for our Seniors!
As evidenced last weekend by the success of the Ladies Luncheon, the storied legacy of community and family remains strong and defines the culture of St. Joes. Please accept this appreciative shout out for the many supportive things you do every day, seen and unseen, to help us celebrate our students and proudly Carry On with confidence. We are able to excel in these challenging times because of your partnership – we all thank you!
I respectfully request that you include a glorious Spring day for Prom, May 6, in your daily prayers and intentions this week. Our Seniors, the incredibly impressive SJ Class of 2021, deserve a tremendous day of fellowship and fun on Thursday. As always, your family remains in my daily prayers. May you have a blessed week.
In Faith and Fellowship,
David J. Klein
President

Become an SJ Student Ambassador Representative!
|
Excellence in the classroom, leadership within the community and a strong commitment to providing positive mentoring are qualities that are exemplified by Student Ambassadors.
Ambassadors serve as representatives to visitors during middle school visits, high school nights, school tours, and admission events. Student Ambassadors are comprised of dedicated, diverse, and outgoing students who seek to share their positive St Joes experience with others.
The Student Ambassador role is demanding. Ambassadors must be prepared to commit time and energy to their responsibilities (most of which require public speaking). Application and recommendations are due by May 7.

Please welcome Caroline Burns as SJ's new Assistant Director of Admissions and Recruitment!
Caroline comes to us with 4+ years of experience in College Admissions and Recruitment. While at Sacred Heart University, Caroline led their campus visit program, was a First Year Experience instructor, and elevated the role of the student tour guides. We look forward to the energy and experience that Caroline will bring to the admissions and recruitment efforts here at St Joes!

Service Spotlight: The Love of Reading Book Drive!
|
Since June 2020, a few Cadets have been working on a book drive for Capital Prep Harbor Lower School in Bridgeport. After learning about a lack of books for their students, our Cadets held a book drive to fill the school’s classroom library.
Over the course of the summer and fall, they've collected over 2,000 books as well as cash donations. They leveled and boxed all of the books and delivered them to the school last week!

The Parent Association is looking for 10' strings of icicle lights for the Junior Ring Social. If you are able to donate a set(s) of icicles and/or green extension cords, Ryan Tomey will be collecting these in a bin in the lobby of St Joes (please label with your name).
Juniors: don't forget to register for the Junior Ring Mass and Junior Ring Social by tomorrow, May 4!

Pizza & Prayer: May 5 at 5:30PM!
|
Pizza and Prayer IS BACK! The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 5:30-7:00PM at St Pius X Church in Fairfield (834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield).
Juniors Kevin DiCicco, David Managhis, Jack Smith will be speaking on the theme of "Our Positive Transition to St Joes". Please sign up in advance, as we will need this information in order to comply with COVID-19 protocol. Ask Mr Smith, Father Silva or any Peer Ministers if you have questions about this growing group on campus!
|
|
The COVID-19 vaccine is now available for individuals ages 16+. At this time, the vaccine is not required for admission or attendance to St Joes.
If your student has received the vaccine, and you would like to share that information with our Nurse, please forward the medical documentation to Mrs Miller. (Note: documents must be official medical paperwork - not the individual vaccine cards).
St Joe's Covid Response Team continues to meet weekly and follows guidance from the Town of Trumbull’s Emergency Management Team as vaccines for minors are still part of a fluid and changing situation in the State of CT.

A Note Regarding Upcoming Events
|
In the coming months, St Joes will host a number of in-person, on-campus events. While preventative measures and safety are our highest priority, all those who choose to participate in these events should understand that there remains a consistent risk of COVID-19 exposure.
If a member of our community tests positive for Covid-19, those within 6 feet of that individual for longer than 15 minutes must undergo a mandatory quarantine for 10 days, without exception. This may mean a student is unable to attend other events such as athletic games, socials, or even senior activities. We ask for your continued adherence to CDC and SJ guidelines and your partnership as students elect which events to attend throughout the remainder of the school year. Thank you.
