NOVEMBER 2021
Greetings from City Hall…..

Another month is in the books, and we are getting closer to normalcy around here, or at least I think we are.  Our Leisure Services programming is back at full blast, we have several big Public Works projects underway and one huge roadway project out of the way…..finally.  The new budget year has started, and we are moving carefully ahead with all Council priorities.

As highlighted in the Experience Oldsmar magazine, one of the City Council's priorities is to create an identifiable downtown. The Planning Board met last Wednesday and voted 6-1 to recommend two amendments to City Council to allow for a density incentive in the Town Center along Tampa Road. There will be a public hearing at the City Council meeting on November 16, 2021 to discuss these matters. For more information, check out DowntownOldsmar.com

As we move closer to the holidays, several wonderful things happen around this time of year.  First, as you know, the weather usually gets consistently nicer between October and November.  It’s not like we need a lot of help in attracting more people to live here, but anyone who has been here at this time is very likely going to want to stay for good!  It is also getting closer to the end of hurricane season, which is another wonderful thing.  It’s not over yet, but so far we’ve been largely spared from the major storms that have affected the panhandle, all the way up through the northeast. As the holidays approach, I hope we all reflect on the many blessings we have as Americans and especially as residents of this great State.  The pandemic has changed the way we do business, as well as the way we go about our personal business.  Even with those challenges, we are still right on track to achieve all of our goals as an organization, although they might now take a little longer.  We should be thankful for the community you all have created. Everything that has shaped our city’s history has originated from the commitment of those who live here, and want to serve.  THAT, more than anything, is what makes this place so special.

I love hearing the ever-increasing number of people that state how much they realize what a great community we have here in Oldsmar. We have a dynamic Council, who represent the community with great intellect and distinction…..even when they are disagreeing about something!  Our staff is the absolute best, most dedicated, honest and hard working group of professionals I’ve ever been associated with. We are no longer the tiny little pass-through community on the way to Tampa, or to the beaches.  There are more reasons than ever to live here, work here, play here or all of the above. And we are not done yet!!!

Don’t forget that tonight is our Drive-Thru Halloween Happenings event, at the Oldsmar Sports Complex. It’s a lot of fun, and you don’t even have to get out of your car! As always, please peruse the helpful information found below, to assist you in knowing about our happenings, news events and ways to communicate with us. Have a great weekend. See you next month!
