A Message from Pastor Sara

I learned a new word this week that relates to Holy Week. It's phygital. It's the bridge between physical and digital experiences. You can learn more from this Forbes article.

Personally, I've been lamenting that once again Spring Break for AACPS is Holy Week which means that my family will never have a fun spring break vacation. But I also often lament that many will go away and not be able to experience Holy Week to its fullest.

And in comes my new word: phygital. Post pandemic, we are continuing to offer phygital worship! That means wherever you are this spring break week: visiting family, going somewhere warm, going somewhere cold, going somewhere far away or staying close you can experience the full rollercoaster of emotions from the parade of Palm Sunday all the way through Maundy Thursday when we remember the first time Jesus gave communion to the disciples, to Good Friday when we journey with Jesus to the cross and finally to the early sunrise and Easter Sunday celebration of the resurrection and the stone rolled away.

Please join me for all of Holy Week worship. It's phygital: onsite physically at 35 Mayo Road and digitally online on YouTube. Can't wait for you to join me!

God's Peace,
Pastor Sara

PRAYERS

Sustained by God's abundant mercy, let us pray for the church, the world, and all of creation.

Save your CHURCH, O God. Enable us to boldly confess in every time and place that Jesus Christ is Lord. With the humility of a servant, equip congregations, synods, and other ministry settings to proclaim your extravagant love for all.

Save your CREATION, O God. Every living being you have made has purpose.Give us renewed appreciation of farm animals who labor in the fields, service animals who accompany their human companions, and beloved pets who live alongside us.

Save the PEOPLES OF THE EARTH, O God. Restore dignity to those who are scorned and persecuted for the religious beliefs or political activism, and deliver them from the hand of their enemies. Bring peace to places where conflict runs deep.

Save those who cry to you in ANY NEED, O God
Watch over all who are incarcerated or waiting trial, and stand with those who are unjustly accused. Be present with those feeling isolated, lonely, or fearful.

Save us in your LOVE, O God. Guide the work of church musicians, pastors, choirs, readers, deacons, technicians, acolytes, and all who assist in worship. Sustain them in their leadership as they accompany congregations through this Holy Week.

We lift our unique prayers you now, God, trusting in your steadfast love and your promised to renew your whole creation.
