The 53rd Annual WKU Student Scholar Showcase, formerly known as the WKU Student Research Conference, will be held Saturday at Downing Student Union and will feature 231 research and creative projects from graduate, undergraduate and Gatton Academy students. Dr. Rachel Tinius, Associate Professor in the WKU School of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport, will present the keynote lecture, Never Stop Learning: How the Desire to Learn Shaped a Career in Pregnancy and Clinical Research, at 10:15 a.m. at DSU, room 3020. Nesma Soliman is a Fulbright Scholar from Alexandria, Egypt, who teaches Arabic to students in the Department of Modern Languages in the Potter College of Arts & Letters for the 2022-2023 academic year. When discussing why she chose to become a Fulbright Scholar, Soliman cites her interest in global linguistics, biodiversity, and different cultures.

The WKU Forensics Team captured the sweepstakes championship at the 5th Annual NFA-LD Grand Prix hosted by the University of North Texas Debate Team in Denton, Texas, on March 25 and 26.

WKU departments will present 'The Menagerie' this weekend
|
Here's a reminder that the WKU Department of Theatre & Dance and the WKU Department of Music will celebrate the performing and visual arts this weekend with The Menagerie – An Opera Gala. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday, 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Van Meter Hall. Tickets are $20; $16 for students and seniors (62+).

Folk Studies & Anthropology lecture series continues Friday
|
The Spring 2023 Folk Studies & Anthropology Brown Bag Lecture series will continue Friday with The Community Scholars Program and What Happened to Jonesville? by Brent Bjorkman, Director of the Kentucky Museum and the Kentucky Folklife Program, and Dr. Ann Ferrell, Associate Professor of Folk Studies. The lecture will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center, room 249, or on Zoom.

WKU is hosting the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit Friday through Sunday at Diddle Arena. In support of this large regional event, several parking, traffic, and transit changes are in effect.

Modern Languages to host Celebrando la Afrolatinidad

Join WKU Modern Languages on Monday for Celebrando la Afrolatinidad, a showcase of student-centered artwork, cultural presentations, culinary displays, and stage performances, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Honors College-International Center Multipurpose Room.

The WKU Alumni Association will host a Pre-Game Gathering at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Nashville Marriott, 2555 West End Avenue, before the WKU vs. Vanderbilt baseball game at 6.
