iPad Charging
Please help remind your child to keep their iPad plugged in and charging as much as possible. Each year the battery longevity decreases which requires them to be charged more often.
School Lunch UPDATE
A la carte items will be available to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students for purchase beginning Tuesday, October 20th. These items include chips (Cool Ranch and Nacho Cheese Doritos and Salt/Vinegar), assortment of ice cream treats and fruit snacks).

When packing your child's lunch, please only use a disposable lunch container such as a brown bag to help reduce the items that students use and need sanitized.

REMEMBER: SCHOOL LUNCH IS FREE FOR ALL STUDENTS THROUGH THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR DUE TO A GRANT FROM THE USDA.

School Fees
School fees have been applied to your student’s PowerSchool account. Fees this year are $70.50 for all 1st and 2nd graders. Fees for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are $73.50. These student fees are for Technology Insurance, Technology Licenses and Everyday Math workbooks. A check can be sent to Gilles-Sweet (made out to Fairview Park City Schools) for your students school fees. They can also be paid online through the PayForIt Program link on www.fairviewparkschools.org or at www.PayForIt.net. Cash cannot be accepted. Please call the school office at 440.356.3525 with questions.
Indoor Recess
As the fall weather arrives, so do rainy days. Typically, students spend recess indoors in their classrooms playing a variety of board games. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to provide these games to students due to the close proximity to other students to play as well as sharing game pieces.

Please consider sending a gallon size ziplock bag with individual items for your child to play with during indoor recess such as legos, rubik cube, puzzle, playing cards, etc.
InfoSnap & Emergency Contact Information Update
If you haven’t updated your contact information and emergency contacts on InfoSnap, please do so.  For your student’s safety it is important that Gilles-Sweet  have your most current contact information.  Log onto your PowerSchool Parent Portal.  PowerSchool   From there click the tiny box with an arrow in it on the top right corner.  Click on Returning Student Registration.  You will be asked to type in your student’s birthday before you can begin. Please call the office at 440-356-3525 if you have questions.
Panorama Survey
Dear Families,

In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we will be asking for your child’s feedback via an online survey they will be completing during school time. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20-30 minutes to complete.

Students in grades 3-12 will answer questions that encourage them to reflect on their own skills, beliefs, competencies, and relationships related to social emotional learning (SEL). Focusing on social emotional learning and creating a safe, supportive, and equitable learning environment is a priority for Fairview Park City Schools and Ohio Department of Education (ODE). Please see ODE’s website for more information regarding SEL.

The first Panorama survey administration for the 2020-2021 school year will take place between November 9 and November 20. The student survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. The wording of survey questions is adjusted based on student age.
Students will answer questions about several priority topics:

  • growth mindset
  • social awareness
  • emotion regulation
  • self-management
  • positive feelings
  • challenging feelings
  • supportive relationships

The survey will be managed by a third party, Panorama Education. We are asking that all of our students in grades 3-12 participate in the surveys, as their feedback will provide valuable insights into their experiences and help us improve and adapt our district to their needs. Please note that district staff will not be able to see how your child responds to individual questions. However, aggregate scores (based on how a student responds to several questions) will be available on a student level for some topics.

We welcome your questions about this process! If you would like to preview the survey, or have your child opt out of taking this survey, please contact your child’s school counselor.

Mental Health Resources Highlighted by OhioGuidestone
Under the leadership of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, OhioMHAS has ramped up state efforts to increase access to mental health and addiction services and promote helpful resources throughout the pandemic and is approaching the issue of social isolation from multiple angles. Earlier this year, the department established the COVID Careline – 1.800.720.9616 – to help meet the needs of Ohioans struggling with loneliness, isolation and other challenges resulting from the pandemic. OhioMHAS also launched the Strive For Five Challenge, a statewide awareness campaign to help individuals and families cope with feelings of stress, anxiety, and isolation by connecting with others.

OhioMHAS and its county partners continue to promote a variety of resources to help young people through these challenging times as well. The Hey I’m Here campaign is a youth-led online community that provides a safe digital space for young people to share their stories, offer encouragement to one-anther, and help peers find mental health resources. Meanwhile, the Be Present Ohio website offers resources for teens and young adults to learn how they can care for their mental health in stressful times, and it provides them with tips for talking to close friends, siblings and classmates who may be struggling emotionally.
