Families grappling with food insecurity frequently confront additional challenges that compromise their health and well-being. For Mr. M, the JFS Kosher Food Pantries have been a blessing he is grateful for. "Thank G-d JFS helps everyone, especially when families like mine need it most."
Originally from Egypt, Mr. M came to the U.S. in the 1980s and worked hard to build his life and family. In recent years, his health took a turn, "I almost died; I was diagnosed with cancer in 2018, but G-d and community has helped me. I didn't imagine I needed help but I learned through my faith, that we have to give donation in order to later receive. So I gave back --here and in Egypt, and found good people that helped me."
Grateful to be in remission, Mr. M and his family still face the impact his illness has had on their finances. Despite challenges, he remains optimistic about life and the connections that have helped him and his family.
By the numbers: During the first quarter (Q1) of 2023, JFS Kosher Food Pantries have seen a 65% increase in families served compared to Q1 of 2022. With the skyrocketing need and recent funding cuts, we are asking our community to join us in fighting hunger.
Consider holding a food drive or making a monetary donation online to help families in need. Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
