Troop 5 helped members of Ridgewood's American Legion Post 53 collect flags that were placed on Veterans' graves at Valleau Cemetery.

WHAT HAPPENED IN NOVEMBER
2020 Virtual Council Recognition Dinner
Our Council Recognition Dinner was held virtually this year on Monday, November 16. We want to thank everyone who joined us and give another huge congratulations to all of our award recipients. If you missed the dinner you can watch it now!

Archdiocese of Newark Catholic Scouting Retreat Day

This year the Scouting Retreat was celebrated as a Day event held outdoors at the St. John Paul II Youth Retreat Center located in Kearny, NJ.

Entitled "Blessed By God" this years retreat highlighted some of the sessions from the Ad Altare Program.  Interactive Sessions on Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation were offered.  

Scouts were divided up into groups and rotated through the sessions. A great time was had by all!
A Scout is Reverent: NNJC Religious Awards Recipients


Congratulations to Northern New Jersey Council Youth who have received Religious Awards.

Troop 31 Ramsey (sponsored by Presbyterian Church of Ramsey) Brandon earned his Ner Tamid Award.

Troop 933 Upper Saddle River (sponsored by Upper Saddle River Schools PTO) Sarah earned her Etz Chaim Award and the Ner Tamid Award.

Troop 77 Wyckoff (sponsored by Bethany Church Assemblies of God) Andy, Sebastian, Taylor, Jonathan, Benjamin, Jake, Jaden, Gideon & Daniel earned their God and Church Awards.

For information about the various religious awards available for youth, search “Boy Scouts of America Religious Awards” online. There are over 100 various awards from over 40 various religious denominations. Many denominations offer awards to youth in all our programs, including Cub Scouts, Scouts B.S.A., Venturing and even adult recognitions.
Scout Spotlight:
Caelyn, Pack 168 Rutherford

Caelyn was successful in her fund raising for World Friendship Fund. Caelyn belongs to Webelos Den 7 - Pack 168 Rutherford.

She used the point of the scout law, “thrifty” to repurpose crayons and reimagine pumpkins to promote “world friendship”
“Friendship is like a box crayons, we belong to one world and bring our unique colorful self”
She also made Pumpkin tea lights:

“Spreading the light of friendship with gratitude”. She collected $150 which she generously donated to the Local Council as per WWF guidelines.

2020 Sale Patches: Now available for pickup

Patches will be available for pickup at our Council office starting on November 19th. Please fill out the 2020 Popcorn Sale Patch Request form so we have have your patches ready for you. Only one leader per Unit needs to fill out this form.

Say THANK YOU to your Scouts, Scouters & Volunteers with a Limited Edition Patches Requirements: - Minimum 5 hours service for each participant. - Service hours must be recorded in “Service Hours Reporting” system. (Details on the back of this flyer) Patches may be purchased at the NNJC Service Center. (Purchase form on the back of this flyer)
NNJC Program Fee Reminder

Scouting has been a part of the northern New Jersey family story for over 110 years. Generations of Scouts fondly remember pinewood derbies, camporees, Scoutfest, Weboree and camping at No-Be-Bo-Sco, Turrell, Floodwood, Lewis and Yaw Paw. We are committed to future generations enjoying the same Scouting magic!

As we promote Scouting in our community, some people may have questions about our youth protection policies and how we keep kids safe. Each question is an opportunity to shed light on the important policies and procedures we’ve put in place that make Scouting safer than ever before.
