An Ordinary Life
In this week's newsletter, we want to share what it's been like living in the Reunion area for the first time. Below is a short update from Chris the Outreach Pastor writing on behalf of the Reunion Church team.

As I sit here on a nice summer night in Texas while out on vacation, I’ve been reminded over and over again of the importance of an ordinary life. It’s fun to see family and take a break from the hustle of everyday life, but it’s not home. My home is ordinary and mundane, which is okay.

As we come to a close on our current series called An Ordinary Life, which has been highly inspired by Zack Eswine’s book Sensing Jesus, seeing the impact it has had on all of us has been eye-opening. How a sermon series focused on how not great and non-extraordinary we are has somehow brought about extraordinary results. The fact that everyone who has been a part of this conversation has changed to be more like who they were made to be in the first place.

Learning to be physically present in the moment with those around us, being content in the circular nature of life, and enjoying the stillness of just being here on God’s green earth is extraordinary enough. We don’t need to be celebrity centered, gossip filled with the details of someone else’s story, or even known worldwide as long as we remember that those who know us best think the world of us.

It’s been good to spend the summer in this series, but it will be ending like everything else that’s good on September 11th, so that we can start our brand-new series called Grace Talk on September 19th! This brand-new series has been in the works for years and we’ll discuss how on our podcast in the weeks to come. We’ve put a lot of work into this one and have even developed our own book to go through this series in small groups to really unpack what grace means.

In this 12 week conversation about grace, we’ll look at what grace means within several key aspects of both the Bible and how that applies to our day-to-day life. From the Holy Spirit’s role in grace to navigating relationships with grace, this is a series for all walks of life. We hope you join us in this next phase of Reunion Church as we go from exploring an ordinary life to now identifying and applying grace in our lives.

PODCAST
In our latest podcast episode, Andrew and Chris discuss the latest installment of our current series: An Ordinary Life.
What You Can Be Praying For
  1. We are in the process of applying for our 501(c)(3) classification. It is proving to be quite a lengthy, confusing (and expensive) process. Please pray that we would be able to raise the necessary funds and that the Lord would guide us as we continue to navigate this process.
  2. We are in need of a worship leader for our full-service launch in January, along with expanding the rest of our teams this year.
  3. That we would meet the needs of the neighborhood with our new Grace Talk series starting September 19th and help those working through their current hurt.
  4. Pray for the people of Afghanistan and the global church as it trusts God during this incredibly heartbreaking time of unrest in the Middle East. Pray that the Taliban leaders would repent of their evil terrorism and tyranny, that the people would find some semblance of justice and peace in the midst of this dark era of their nation, and lastly for the veterans who feel emotionally defeated by the way this 20-year war ended.

To guide your prayers, read 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NLT):

"I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity."
