Do not travel through floodwaters

Flooding-RoadSigns-FBTW.png

At least three Washington County roads remain closed due to high water caused by melting snow and heavy rain.

Whether walking, biking or driving, never travel into floodwaters. You can’t tell how deep the water is by looking at it. It takes only 6 inches of moving water to knock over and carry away an adult and 12 inches to carry away a small car.

Our road crews are posting warning signs and barricades to prevent travel on flooded roads. These barricades are there for traveler safety. It is illegal to move or travel around road-closure barricades. Violations carry fines of $265. Call the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 503-629-0111 to report someone moving or traveling around a barricade.

To request help or report a road hazard:

  • Call 911 (life-threatening emergency).
  • Call 503-629-0111 (after hours, non-emergency).
  • Call 503-846-ROAD (503-846-7623) during business hours or email.
  • Submit an online request for non-emergency road service.
