Author and graphic novelist Rex Ogle (Free Lunch and Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy) will be visiting with Madison students on Tuesday, November 10. Join us at 12pm using this Teams meeting link to hear Rex share about his writing journey and to ask him all your burning questions!
YALLWrite, November 13 and 14
YALLFest is going virtual this year with YALLWrite—a craft-themed, online festival for readers, writers, illustrators, and storytellers to stay connected and inspired despite our social distance. During this FREE two-day event, students will get to hear and learn from some of their favorite authors, including:

Curbside Library Book Pickup
The next Curbside Library Book Pickup will be on Thursday, November 19, 3-5 pm.

Place books on hold through the Madison Online Library Catalog at least one day in advance. Learn how to place books on hold. You can also ask Ms. Bell for a book recommendation.
Bulldogs Read Book Club, November 23 at Noon
Calling all readers! Our next Bulldogs Read Book Club will be Monday, November 23, from 12-12:40 pm. Our featured book this month is the graphic novel memoir When Stars Are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed. Join us using this Teams meeting link to discuss Omar’s experience growing up in a Kenyan refugee camp with his brother. Reserve a copy of the book today (while supplies last) by e-mailing Ms. Bell.

Superintendent Juneau Town Hall TODAY
Join Superintendent Juneau for a Virtual Town Hall on Tuesday, November 10, at 4:30 pm. Superintendent Juneau and guests will share updates and answer questions on asynchronous, or independent, learning.

This Teams Live event will be streamed on the Seattle Public Schools Facebook page, the SPSTV local TV cable channel, and the SPS YouTube channel.
Apply for the Parent Advisory Council
SPS is seeking members for the Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council (PAC). The PAC's primary task is to build systemic capacity at each school to facilitate strong family engagement to support student learning. This group will gather parent and guardian leaders who will help co-design systems that support school-based engagement. The online application will be open until November 12.

Stencil a Storm Drain and Raise Awareness
Have fun and help raise awareness about water pollution by volunteering to spray paint a stencil next to storm drains in your neighborhood. Seattle Public Utilities supplies a bucket with the stencil, paint, gloves, and safety vests. Request a Stencil Kit by contacting Carlton Stinson at carlton.stinson@seattle.gov or (206) 684-7624.
Seattle Public Library Free Virtual Tutoring
Seattle Public Library has launched free virtual tutoring for students. Tutoring is available in math, writing, science, history, foreign languages, college essay writing, AP courses, and more. This service will be available seven days a week in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Students can log in using a Library card or Library Link Number and PIN.
