June Newsletter
June 2022
Father, Creator of all, thank You for summer!
Thank you for the warmth of the sun and the increased daylight.
From the Director

Dear Friends of ABM,

I want to say thank you to all who gave during our Easter Giving campaign and those who continue to give throughout the year. You bless our ministry so much, keeping our doors open and serving our patrons. You will be receiving your donation receipts from Jan-May, 2022 in the next couple of days.

Looking forward, I have exciting news: AUDIOBOOK Ministries gets to stay at John Knox! What a blessing they have been and continue to be. If you have not been able to visit, please know that you are welcome. I also hope to plan a time this summer to get all of us together to celebrate. I miss seeing all of you. The date and time are not yet decided.

As you begin your summer and take trips, think about sending us a postcard! We missing getting mail and would love to hear from you. We will be setting up a display board with all received postcards to decorate our new office.

Yours in Christ,

Laurie van der Roest

Easter giving update
The good news is we did it with your help. We made our goal of matching the $10,000 matching fund, and then some. As of right now, we are at $27,318 total. My heart is full. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Spotlight Staff

Kit Frank
Many of you had the privilege to work with or talk to Kit. She has moved on now to a new job closer to her home. She was so great connecting with our patrons. It always amazed me how she could remember the smallest detail about their lives. I loved coming to work. She made me feel welcome, like I was important. Good luck Kit.

Book Review

Out of the Ruins: The Golden Gate Chronicles Book 1
The novel is written by Karen Barnett. She is the award-winning author of several novels. A former park ranger and naturalist, Barnett's historical stories often take readers into adventurous and beautiful places.
Out of the Ruins is the first in a three-book series. It is a historical romance set in the 1905 San Francisco earthquake. The novel is not only a great way to learn about history, but it also describes how a family seeks comfort and learns to trust God through impossible challenges.
The story covers a family’s experience with risky but possible life-saving medical treatment. It details people’s fear and fight for survival during the mighty San Francisco earthquake. It shows how in times of tragedy, the circumstances can bring out the very best and the very worst in people. As the storyline takes the readers through the journey of major characters, it demonstrates how, through it all, one can still learn to trust and rely on God even in the darkest hours.
