Hello Second Time Arounders:

I hope this letter finds you well, either working, vacationing or maybe doing some combination of both. I’m so looking forward to our upcoming fall season, my first as director and the band’s first official fall season as well. As of this writing we are just three months our from our first full rehearsal in September.

There has been so much already accomplished. We have a new Board of Directors in place, and they are already working to help the band. I have met with our Creative Team on the artistic details for the fall season. We’ve chosen music and created a calendar of rehearsals and performances. My wife, Julez and I have hosted the first of two get togethers at our place, during which time I’ve been able to cast the vision for the fall and we’ve begun building a strong team of Shepherds, Leads, Board Members and Creatives. The season is ready to launch and we can be assured there will be lots of energy, fresh creativity, new challenges and fun for all!

Our fall focus begins with preparation for two Field Show performances at high school band competitions. We’ll perform for an audience of band enthusiasts, both students and parents. It will be a huge opportunity to “WOW” an appreciative crowd of potential future ‘Rounders. The show music and drill will involve ALL of our band - every song, every member.

The field show theme, “Viva La Musica” features the Hispanic heritage of the Tampa Bay Area in sight, sound and narrative. Musical selections include “Malaguena”, “Cup of Life”, “Fireball” (which is also one of our parade tunes) and “Land of Make Believe”. You’ll notice additional songs for the season when the Website is ready for music downloading by July 1. A big “thank-you” to Natasha Patterson for her hard work on getting the music organized and uploaded.

There’s more! Our concert at the St. Pete Pier will be a part of the Fall Festival, an established event with great attendance. We are the first adult band ever to be invited by Universal Studios to perform in their Holiday Parade. This can be a day trip or an elective overnight or an Orlando weekend. The Pinellas Park Christmas Parade has been a fun, well-attended parade that we are glad to do as a thank-you to Pinellas Park for using the PAC for our rehearsals. You’ll find more information including dates on the whole season on our website with lots of updates coming soon.

We have a wonderful season ahead, and it’s time for you to register, tell your friends to register and be part of this next edition of the Awesome Original Second Time Around Marching Band. See you in September!

Still no second endings,

Mark

Hey Rounders

About six weeks ago we celebrated the 40th Anniversary of our unique and wonderful marching band. The future is now. Edition 41 is ready to launch. With a short turn around, your leadership team has worked tirelessly to prepare for a cool Fall season that promises more fun, music and fresh experiences. Registration is now open for Fall 2022.

It is now time to register for the Fall Season. Do that by clicking on the link below, on the website or from facebook.

We need folks to register by July 1, so that we can estimate the band size, so that our drill writer can produce an accurate show for us. Everyone will have an x on the diagram for our show.

When you register, you will notice that our suggested donation has changed from $25 to $50.

Everything the band does has become more expensive. We also have some new cost since Bringe music is closing. For our 40-year history, Bringe has stored a lot of our band gear.

We are now renting a storage facility. Many thanks to Bringe for it’s support of the Rounders under the ownership of Bill and Angie Findeison as well as the current owners and friends Lynn and Joan.

There will be more detail on sectionals, rehearsals and performances into the summer as we prepare for our first full rehearsal on Sept 20. Look for more information on the website, on band emails, and from your shepherd/lead.

We are all very excited about what is planned for the Fall.

Can’t wait to see everybody on Sept 20.

Have a great summer!

Tim Holly
