After nearly 15 years of service, Claudia Stewart, PhD, will step down from her role as vice president for technology commercialization in early November.
Ruchika Nijhara, PhD, MBA, the current senior director of technology commercialization, will succeed Stewart as interim vice president for technology commercialization. Learn more here.

For those unable to tune in live, recordings of the forum will be available on the Office of the Provost website in the days after the event.

Donate to Children’s Hospital Halloween Donation Drive
The School of Medicine DC Emergency Medicine Interest Group is collecting non-edible donations (small toys, pencils, erasers, stickers, keychains, etc.) to help hospitalized children celebrate Halloween. There are donation boxes in the Med-Dent north lobby, Med-Dent south lobby, DML and Caduceus student lounge. Monetary donations are also being accepted via Cash app: $DCMSC. Donations will be accepted until October 21.
The 12th annual Ruesch Center Symposium will take place in a hybrid in-person/virtual format. Topics in GI cancer to be covered include expanding I/O therapies, targeted therapies and health disparities. HR Announcements
Open enrollment for 2022 benefits is now underway until 10pm on Nov. 15. Employees may log in to GMS to enroll or change health plans, make changes to voluntary benefits, add or remove dependents, update beneficiaries, enroll or re-enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) or health savings accounts (HSAs) and consider the new MetLife Legal Plus Parents Plan. Learn about benefit options, what is changing in 2022 and how to enroll on the new Georgetown University Open Enrollment Showcase website. You may review the 2022 insurance premiums on the benefits website.
Between now and November 5, managers may conduct optional Mid-Year Check-Ins in GMS for administrative staff and AAP employees not currently in their probationary review period. The period for Mid-Year Check-In review covers March 1 through August 31.
The Mid-Year Check-In is a simplified template that enables managers and employees to create, review and update their individual goals, as well as make an overall assessment of employee performance during the period. Instructions on how to initiate and complete FY22 Mid-Year Check-Ins can be found on the Department of Human Resources performance management website. Please contact the Department of Human Resources with any questions about the FY22 Mid-Year Check-In process.
Managing at Georgetown is a foundational program that offers information on Human Resources and University policies and procedures, discusses strategies for managing employees, and highlights key leadership and communication skills. Managing at Georgetown will be offered this fall in a virtual learning capacity. Interested GUMC participants can sign up for Cohort 11 or Cohort 12.
