Happy Father's Day!

Dads who advocate for their children, the men who spend late nights researching ways to help those with disabilities; teachers and parapros who guide our kids in the classroom, and personal service workers who support our adults... We respect you and appreciate you!

💬 Around the Office...
Our team loves to learn! We've been busy the past few months attending industry conferences and speaking at events. Clancy & Associates is committed to continuing education on cutting edge strategies and community outreach.

Our firm was invited to present at the Lincolnway Special Recreation Association Ability Awareness Fair to teach families about special needs planning. Jennifer Sabourin spoke about government benefits, special needs trusts, ABLE accounts, and IEPs.
Jennifer also attended the Academy of Special Needs Planners 16th Annual Conference in Seattle, Washington. We look forward to using this cutting-edge, innovative information to help our clients!
🥳 Congratulations to Alex on her recent promotion to
Executive Director of PACE!
Alexandra Baig, MBA, CFP®, who consults with Clancy & Associates clients on issues involving their public benefits and plans for adult life, has taken on the role of Executive Director at the P.A.C.E. program at National Louis University.

P.A.C.E. is one of the earliest and longest running on-campus, post-secondary college-experience programs for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The goal of the program is to help students develop employment and independent living skills while continuing their functional academic and social skills learning. Students take what they learn in the classroom and apply it to their daily living in campus housing and their internships at on- and off-campus worksites.

P.A.C.E. students also have a chance to participate in overall student life at National Louis University as well as to explore and enjoy the social, recreational and service learning opportunities in the city of Chicago.

We are so lucky to have such exceptional knowledge at our Firm!!

📰 Legal News
If you have a child with a disability, providing for them into the future will likely stand among your top priorities. However, if you also wish to apply for Medicaid to cover your own long-term care expenses, first consider establishing a special needs trust (SNT) for your child. This will allow you to transfer assets to support them while remaining eligible for Medicaid yourself. Read more here.
Children with disabilities whose parents are veterans, living or dead, may be entitled to government support. Veterans and their children might not be aware of the fact, but financial assistance is available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Social Security Administration, whether for health care costs, vocational training, or in the form of survivor benefits. Moving becomes a part of our lives at many different stages: When we move away from our parents, relocate for a job opportunity, or find somewhere new to retire. No matter your circumstances, it can be a stressful process. And if you’re moving with a child with autism, it’s especially important to help relieve moving stress for both you and your kid.
