Greetings!
When HipLink started in the 90s, we didn't know that we'd get the opportunity to work with people in so many industries or that it would be such an exciting ride.

Today, Hiplink continues to learn and adapt as the technology and needs around us change. As part of that, this month we're starting a brief monthly newsletter for our customers and others that have expressed interest.

In each issue, readers will find excerpts and summaries of articles about the world of IT in business continuity and event management from us and curated from other trusted sources.

In this issue:
  • The first article in a series about how to reduce the costs of IT downtime
  • How Grace Hospitals use HipLink and other software to cut response times and fight alarm fatigue
  • 3 Steps To Developing A Risk Response Advisory System (CIO.com)
  • New ISO Business Continuity Guidelines (ContinuityCentral.com)

We often share these on LinkedIn as well-- feel free to follow us here.

Reducing MTTR Reduces Downtime Cost
This is the first in a series about mitigating the costs of IT downtime.

In this installment: How organizations can approach reducing Mean Time to Repair (MTTR). Hint: An ounce of preparation beats a pound of cure.
Customer Spotlight: Tooele County
Tooele County faces many of the same challenges reserved for larger urban centers. Most of the county’s 60,000 residents inhabit its eastern border with commutes to Salt Lake City a mere 30-minutes. As a result, the last decade has seen eastern Tooele County swell with new bedroom communities and legions of commuters.

“Tooele County is unique,” says Lieutenant Regina Campbell, Communications Officer for Tooele County, “Not only are we challenged by the increases in crime, fires, traffic accidents, search and rescue, road closures that most U.S. communities have, but we’re also home to a large government facility, the Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal facility at the U.S. Army Deseret Chemical Depot.”

Advice from CIO’s Nicholas Evans:
"In this world of continuous disruption, what’s required is enterprise adaptability — not just for a one-time change, but continuously based on rapidly changing external conditions." Here's how to get started.
New ISO Business Continuity Guidelines (ContinuityCentral.com)
CC's Hilary Estall covers the high points, clause by clause.
"I can almost hear the collective groans as readers learn there is another, new, ISO-published document relating to business continuity. But do not dismiss this latest offering out of hand. It’s shorter than a lot of other documents published by ISO and manages to get to the point quickly and adeptly..."
