Principal John Cominsky plans to walk 100 miles in 72 hours around the new track at COBO Field from Friday, April 14, to Sunday, April 16, to raise money for ongoing building projects at the school. A percentage of the donations will be tithed to support Saint Francis Soup Kitchen in Harrisburg.

End of Quarter 3 and Report Card Distribution

The third marking period ends on Thursday, March 23, and Trinity will distribute report cards during Mentor Group on Thursday, March 30. Please ask your children to see their report cards when they arrive home on the March 30.

Summer School Credit Recovery

Any student who fails a major subject class for the school year is expected to make that credit up using the school's designated credit recovery program. In 2023, this program will be different from what has been used in previous school years. The following classes require credit recovery: English, social studies, math, science, and theology (9th and 12th grade if the class is failed for the year; 10th and 11th grade if either or both semesters are failing grades).

Additionally, some (but not all) electives and fractional classes can be recovered through this credit recovery program. All senior year failures, regardless of whether the credit/class is needed for graduation, are required to be made up before a senior can receive a diploma.

Information about Prom

Trinity will hold the Senior/Junior Prom on Friday, April 28, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the West Shore Country Club. Tickets are $70 each and will be sold from March 27 through April 5; no tickets will be sold after April 5. Students should submit this parent permission form at the time of purchase.

Students should look for a Google Form in the daily announcements to purchase their tickets and select their meal choices. Students bringing guests from another school must submit a guest form with appropriate signatures prior to receiving their tickets. All tickets are non-refundable

As a Catholic high school, we require dress that is age- and occasion-appropriate.

Boys are expected to be in tuxedos. Boys may remove their jackets only. Ties are to remain on during the event.

Girls should be in a fancy dress or gown. The following should be followed when choosing a prom dress:

  • Dresses may not have any cut outs or slits in the bodice or body of the dress. If a dress is two pieces, the midriff cannot be showing at any time (including while walking or dancing).
  • If long, any slit may not come higher than three inches above the knee.
  • If short, the skirt should be no more than three inches above the knee all the way around.
  • A dress must not be so tight that it creeps up as a person walks or moves around.
  • Dresses cannot be backless. At least half of the back needs to be covered by the bodice of the dress.
  • Cleavage must be covered, and strapless dresses must fit appropriately so that there is not a need to be continually pulled up by the wearer. If a panel is added to cover cleavage, it must be a solid-colored material; sheer panels are not acceptable.

Spiritual Reflections

The Gospel for Sunday, March 19, 2023--The 4th Sunday of Lent

As Jesus passed by he saw a man blind from birth. He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and smeared the clay on his eyes, and said to him, "Go wash in the Pool of Siloam"—which means "sent"—so he went and washed, and came back able to see. His neighbors and those who had seen him earlier as a beggar said, "Isn't this the one who used to sit and beg?" Some said, "It is," but others said, "No, he just looks like him." He said, "I am." They brought the one who was once blind to the Pharisees. Now Jesus had made clay and opened his eyes on a sabbath. So then the Pharisees also asked him how he was able to see. He said to them, "He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see." So some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, because he does not keep the sabbath." But others said, "How can a sinful man do such signs?" And there was a division among them. So they said to the blind man again, "What do you have to say about him, since he opened your eyes?" He said, "He is a prophet." They answered and said to him, "You were born totally in sin, and are you trying to teach us?" Then they threw him out. When Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, he found him and said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?" He answered and said, "Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?" Jesus said to him, "You have seen him, and the one speaking with you is he." He said, "I do believe, Lord," and he worshiped him.--John 9:1, 6-9, 13-17, 34-38

Reflection

Blindness is Jesus' time was seen as a punishment for sin. Today, we understand that physical blindness is caused by a variety of medical issues. But what about blindness of the heart? Many live in spiritual blindness in our world today. The need for faith and the Sacraments and the Church are not seen in their lives. As faithful Christians, we are called to bring the light of Christ into their darkness, not only through our words, but also through our actions. Let us pray that God will remove our blindness to his love and give us the courage to share his love with others.

Prayer for the Week--Collect for 4th Sunday of Lent

God, who through your Word reconcile the human race to yourself in a wonderful way, grant, we pray, that, with prompt devotion and eager faith, the Christian people may hasten toward the solemn celebrations to come. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

Each Lent, Catholics across the country unite to put their faith into action through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Through CRS Rice Bowl, families learn about how our sisters and brothers across the globe overcome hardships like hunger and malnutrition, and how through Lenten alms, we have the power to make the world a better place for all. Bowls will be collected on Thursday, March 30.
