ITD is beginning work on an I-84 bridge and two ramps that run over the Boise River near Centennial Way in Caldwell.
The work will take place on:

  • The I-84 bridge just west of the Centennial Way overpass
  • Two ramps that connect to Centennial Way

The project will extend the lifespan of the bridges and surface.
What to expect:
  • The bridge on I-84 will be worked on first.

  • The I-84 westbound-on ramp and eastbound-off ramp at Centennial Way will be worked on second.

  • Crews will work behind safety rails during the day.

  • Nightly I-84 lane restrictions are expected:

  • Monday - Friday: 9 p.m. - 6 a.m.
  • Saturday - Sunday: 9 p.m. - 9 a.m.

  • Some ramp closures will be necessary. Drivers will be detoured to the City Center/10th Ave. Exit (Exit 28) during closures.

  • An advisory speed limit will be in place.

  • Work zone will be tight.
Resurfacing the bridges
  • The ramps will be resurfaced using an epoxy overlay.

  • The I-84 bridge will be redone using silica fume concrete.

  • Crews will prep the roadway for resurfacing using hydro demolition. To learn more about the demo process, watch the video.
Construction is expected to be complete by early summer. (Please note, this work is not part of the Centennial Way to Franklin Road project happening later this summer.)
