Rewinding Memories Forward

“Music, as its essence, is what gives us memories. And the longer a song has existed in our lives, the more memories we have of it”
Steven Wonder

In the spring of 2008, I experienced one of those refreshing micro moments in life that inspired me to write the song, Nabadon a solo guitar instrumental, to memorialize my memory and emotions of that beautiful spring day. This song was well outside my genre and comfort zone as a musician and songwriter. Inspiration will challenge us to stretch our limits of creativity. This song, and memory has existed in my life for thirteen years, bringing me much happiness when I play it on my guitar.

“The one thing I need to leave behind is good memories”
Michael Landon

Over the past spring, I once again encountered one of those refreshing micro memories of life, that sparked my creativity and inspiration to memorialize the event. Though highly inspired to write a new song, about this nostalgic rewind, I opted to re-record an extended version of Nabadon with a number of new movements, textures, and rhythms. In essence, I rewound my memories forward.

My special thanks to Drew Caico, Musical Director, for producing and arranging the song in his studio.

So, if you have a moment to turn off your mind from life’s mundane burdens, please just close your eyes to take a listen and sit-back, and rewind your past pleasant memories forward to the present with this soft reflective song. Its notes say more than lyrics. Nabadon
