HPED's 2021 Annual Meeting and Awards

On October 20th, HPED's annual meeting provided a report about HPED projects and programs and plans for 2022, a chance to hear from Township Manager Dave Burman about the American Rescue Plan Act and how the Township will use funds to foster economic growth. We also presented our annual awards of excellence (shown below) and provided time for networking.

Donald Kelly Award for Civic Engagement for Tom Kelly (2020) and Peggy Murr (2021)

The Donald Kelly Award for Civic Engagement is presented to a person or organization whose notable efforts and good works have impacted the quality of life and economic development of Haverford Township in meaningful and significant ways.

Standing Ovation Award for Centrella's Deli

The HPED standing Ovation Award is presented to a business of the highest standards, offering exceptional customer service, an attractive, welcoming environment, and engagement in the community life of Haverford Township, and is selected by popular vote.

Eye-Catching Awards for Manoa Tavern (2020) and Brick & Brew (2021)

The Eye-Catching Award recognizes a Haverford Township business or organization for a recent facade renovation, window display, or property improvement that brightens up the Township. Recipients are selected by HPED's Windows & Facades Committee.

HPED Job's Fair

HPED hosted a successful Jobs Fair on October 12th, with 30+ employers and nearly 70 job-seekers. Thanks to the Township for co-sponsoring this event with American Rescue Plan Act Funds. We hope to offer this service again in 2022.

Join the 2022 Haverford Home & Garden Show!

Our next Haverford Home & Garden Show is scheduled for Sunday, March 6th, and we are now recruiting show sponsors and vendors!

The show serves as a way to foster economic growth by connecting residents in the region with local businesses, as well as to raise funds for the work of HPED.

The 2022 show will include up to 70 vendors representing a variety of businesses such as general contractors, architects, interior designers, arborists, plumbers, electricians, roofers, painters, landscapers and lawn care providers, realtors, financial services such as banks, phone and internet services, and businesses that sell home improvement, gardening or landscaping products.

There will be a marketplace where vendors will sell home and garden items such as garden tools, bird houses and bird feeders, fine art, plants, home decor, antiques, and gift items.

Our keynote speaker will be Doug Tallamy, ecologist and best-selling author of several books, including 2020’s Nature’s Best Hope: A New Approach to Conservation That Starts in Your Yard. Other speakers and demonstrations related to home and garden will also be scheduled. We will have a “green zone” with information about local initiatives regarding sustainable home and garden practices. We will repeat our very popular Furniture Flip Contest. In addition, Make & Take projects will be offered for children and adults.
