Illegal Fireworks Can Be Harmful to Veterans
Did you know that illegal fireworks can harm Moreno Valley's veteran community?

An unexpected fireworks explosion can trigger a startle response in people who have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This psychiatric condition can occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event, including our veterans.

Let’s protect the heroes who have done so much to defend our country by not lighting illegal fireworks this Fourth of July.

Fireworks, they’re just not worth it.

Report Homeless Encampments Along Freeways
Directly to CalTrans
Did you know there's a way you can directly report homeless encampments along freeways to Caltrans?

Caltrans has an easy-to-use online tip line if you see homeless encampments alongside freeways, underneath overpasses, and near off and on-ramps. Go to the customer service request line at csr.dot.ca.gov. Once there, indicate the type of request, pinpoint the location and when you saw it, and briefly describe the nature of the situation.

Once you submit the tip, Caltrans gives you a ticket number and sends you emails acknowledging the request, when it will be worked on, and when it's completed.

It's yet another way we can work with Caltrans to keep Moreno Valley's freeways clean.

Pet of the Week: Lizzie
Our Pet of the Week is Lizzie, an adorably sweet five-year-old mutt. We may not know what kind of dog Lizzie is, but with her short legs, long torso, cookies ‘n cream-colored fur, and big smile, she’s as cute as they come. Lizzie loves to play and go on walks, but there is nothing she loves more than receiving affection. One visit with Lizzie, and you’ll know she’s the perfect dog for you.

If you would like to make Lizzie or any pet from the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter part of your family, please contact the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter at 951.413.3790 or visit www.moval.org/pets.
