Greetings!
At this time of year, there are many observances and holidays that our families are part of. Its an important time of year for all and a great time to reflect on all the benefits of being part of a diverse community and country. At Wee Watch, we think about our children, Providers, staff and their families as our own community, one we all feel blessed to be part of. One of our key foundations is “belonging’ and fostering a sense of belonging in our care homes. With the holiday season upon us, we thought we’d focus our newsletter this month on the theme of “Community Building” and belonging! We know that children who are connected to family, friends and people in their neighborhood have a greater sense of belonging that can boost their self confidence and provide opportunities to learn about and get along with others.
We have collected a series of articles with tips and information to help families develop a greater sense of community with their children. Additionally, we have compiled some crafts and activities that will inspire children to learn about diverse customs and cultures. For some children the themes will be familiar and for others new – which we hope will inspire sharing and learning.
We also want to take this opportunity to wish everyone in our community a safe, peaceful and happy holiday season.
