Climate Jobs New York News
Hello,

Mariah Dignan here reaching out with the Climate Jobs NY October report. We had a lot going on this month so let's get to it.

During Climate Week, CJNY collaborated with The Worker Institute and Climate Jobs National Resource Center* to host the Climate Jobs and Just Transition Summit that had 51 speakers/panelists and over 4,000 participants throughout the day. I'm proud to say that it was an enormous success.
Check out the new CJNY video describing our mission.
Please watch and share with your community.
South Fork Wind submitted the Joint Proposal after nearly a year of in-person and virtual correspondence between stakeholders. This proposal highlights additional mitigation efforts and clearly demonstrates that the Beach Lane Cable Route in Wainscott is the best and most environmentally sound route to interconnect zero-carbon, clean renewable energy to the LI grid.

The East Hampton Trustees unanimously approved and five NYS agencies signed the agreement. Along with environmental, community, and business/industry groups, CJNY submitted public comments supporting the Joint Proposal. CLICK HERE TO READ

We expect a decision from the Public Service Commission to grant the construction, operation, and maintenance of the cable by December/January.

Vote early for the future you want to see!
New York voters can also vote before Election Day. The early voting period runs from Saturday, October 24, 2020 to Sunday, November 1, 2020, but dates and hours may vary based on where you live.

  • On October 20, proposals were submitted to NYSERDA for the 2020 offshore wind solicitation. CJNY has been a lead advocate for port investment that would secure good union jobs and pre apprenticeship/labor management training. Throughout we continue to highlight the importance of local community engagement & workforce development in black/brown/indigenous communities. We expect a decision from NYSERDA on these proposals by the end of this year.

  • Finally, I had the privilege of joining WPKN's Evening News Report earlier this month to talk about CJNY's mission, a just transition to renewable energy for our communities & workforce, and the South Fork Wind Project. Check it out! LINK TO INTERVIEW AND TRANSCRIPT

That's all for now. I hope everyone continues to stay safe and healthy.  If you have any questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to reach out.
