Shop Local Campaign Encourages Local Spending
The Town has partnered with the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Georgetown Business Improvement Area and the Downtown Acton Business Improvement Area (BIA) for the annual Shop Local campaign.

According to Mayor Bonnette, “There have been many challenges for our business community as they have done their part to help keep our community safe. It doesn’t take much for us to help with their recovery -- all we need to do is shop locally whenever possible.”

Culture Days is just around the corner. Join the national celebration of arts and culture from September 24 - October 24 by registering a participatory event for the community.

Retrofit Halton Hills Survey Results
To support the Town’s climate emergency declaration and Council’s net-zero by 2030 target, a home energy retrofit pilot program called Retrofit Halton Hills is being developed.

The program will target deep energy retrofits in the residential sector (the second largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Halton Hills) through the use of Local Improvement Charges (LICs) as a financing mechanism to encourage homeowner participation.

Earlier this year, a survey conducted on Let’s Talk Halton Hills asked homeowners to share their experiences with home energy improvements and 200 responses were received. The input was used to help design the pilot program which will be launched in 2022.

Fairy Lake Water Quality Update
Residents may notice the presence of surveyors conducting field studies around Fairy Lake both on foot and by boat this summer and continuing into Spring 2022.

Building on the 2010 Water Quality Study, information is being gathered about wildlife use and vegetation communities, and water and sediment samples are being collected. Lake users are also advised that Blue Green Algae has been detected by the boathouse dock so residents are reminded to take precautions.

Visit the Fairy Lake project page on Let's Talk Halton Hills for more information about the 2010 study, FAQs and subscribe to the page for updates as they become available.

Have you spotted geese, unique wildlife or plants? Mark them on the project maps.
Cultural Heritage Master Plan Interactive Map and Kickoff Survey
Halton Hills is developing a Cultural Heritage Master Plan (CHMP) to provide the tools to identify, protect, and celebrate Halton Hills’ rich and diverse cultural heritage resources. This project is a community-integrated process, shaped by input from the community members.

Please visit the map and kickoff survey to tell us what you love about Halton Hills and identify special places.
Digital Main Street
Digital Main Street is back and available to more small businesses in Halton Hills. Digital Service Squad staff will be available for one-on-one meetings between September 2021 and February 2022.
The Annual Used Bike Swap is Back
Community members are invited to join the Halton Hills Bike It Committee for their Used Bike Swap, an event that gives residents the opportunity to recycle their bikes in an environmentally friendly way by putting them in the hands of those who can use them.

Participants will have the chance to donate their used bikes and trikes (in working condition) or get a great deal on a used bike for themselves or a family member.

All proceeds will go to local food banks.
