 Winter Break
The Republic School District will be closed for Winter Break on December 23-January 4. Students will not attend school on Monday, January 4 for a teacher work day. The second semester will begin on Tuesday, January 5. **TEACHERS PLEASE SHARE WITH FAMILIES!**
Please find some time to recharge during this time away from school, but also please be mindful of your actions during break. The health-related decisions we choose will impact our ability to have school in phase 1. Therefore, please mask and stay diligent in social distancing!

 Reporting Positive COVID19 Cases & Quarantines Over Winter Break
To provide our administrators and nurses a reprieve during Winter Break, we ask that all positive COVID19 cases and quarantines that surface from 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22 through 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 4 be reported by completing the appropriate form found at the following links:
Employees, please notify your director or principal if you will miss Monday, January 4 due to being positive or in quarantine. Teachers, if you will need a sub please enter this into the system so Penmac can have a head start. If needed, an administrator or nurse will be in touch on Monday, January 4. All positive cases received will be contact traced upon returning from break.
Also, positive cases will not be reported daily during Winter Break. A full report from December 23-January 4 will be shared on January 4.

Early Retirement or Resignation Notification Incentive, $1000 Deadline January 7
In order to secure the best possible candidate pool, the Board of Education is offering an early retirement or resignation incentive of $1,000 to any certificated professional staff member who submits retirement or resignation notification by the end of the day January 7. The resignation or retirement must be effective for next school year.
This incentive is included in Board of Education policy E-155-E on page 33 of the Employee Manual, and will be available annually although the monetary amount is subject to change.

New CDC Guidance on Quarantines
 Please review the information at https://conta.cc/3lDb7Nh in regards to updated quarantine protocols in response to the CDC's new guidance released yesterday. This information reduces the required days of a traditional quarantine to 10, and also provides an option to "test out" of quarantine for release on day 7.

 RepMO Return to Learn 2nd Semester Update
The district continues to operate in phase 1 of the RepMO Return to Learn plan. As indicated when the plan was released earlier this fall, there are a few items that needed to be reevaluated at the end of first semester, which has arrived. The plan in its current state will continue through the end of third quarter when it will be reevaluated again. Specifically, this means that assemblies and class meetings will continue to be virtual, and that field trips will not be taken off campus and evening PTO events will not take place (all items that were to be reevaluated at the end of first semester).

Notice of Annual School Election & Filing Information
In compliance with RSMo 115.127.5, notice is hereby given to the qualified voters of the Republic R-III School District of Greene and Christian Counties of Missouri, that the Annual Election of said District will be held on Tuesday, the sixth day of April, 2021, beginning at six o'clock a.m., and closing at seven o'clock p.m., of said day, to vote upon school board members. Candidates for school board may file at the central office located at 518 North Hampton, Republic, Missouri. Filing will begin on December 15, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. and will continue during the district's regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Except for the first and last day of filing, filing will not occur on days that the school district's central office is closed due to inclement weather or on the following holidays and breaks when the school district's central office is closed: December 23, 2020 through January 1, 2021. Filing will end on January 19, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. There are 2 positions available with three-year terms.
Ballot placement for candidates filing on the first day shall be determined by random drawing; candidates filing on subsequent days shall be placed on the ballot in order of filing.

Loan Forgiveness Information
In accordance with state law, the Republic R-III School District is required to provide all new employees with information regarding eligibility for the Public School Loan Forgiveness Program. Employees who work full-time in a public school district might be eligible for this program. The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Student Loans for borrowers after they have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan, as long as the borrower is not in default.
