A Letter from our Executive Director
As I drive through my neighborhood, I see many different colors of brightly shining Christmas lights and feel the excitement in the air. From the outside, it looks like just another normal Christmas. But we all know the struggles our community, nation and world have faced from the COVID-19 virus have made this Christmas anything but “normal.”
Our UWGK slogan and theme this year has been “United We’re Strong!” These are more than just catchy words. As many of our friends, neighbors, (and even our own families at times) have struggled this year through isolation, uncertainty, and the health and economic effects of this virus, we often still present that bright and shining “Christmas light” exterior: everything seems normal, seems OK—but others don’t really know what’s going on inside.
I can’t think of a better time of year to do a “check-in” with those around you. Take time this season to truly see how they are doing and perhaps give them a word of encouragement and cheer. People are looking for kindness. Let’s be a community that spreads kindness—not just at Christmas, but all through this next year.

United We’re Strong!
Live United (and wear your mask!)
