Happy Spring! It’s nice to see the flowers blooming, the birds singing, and the sun rising earlier each day. Life is Good!
Our ALL year is almost over. Coordinators, the deadline to enter your fall classes is near.
Don’t’ Forget! We have three events before we break for summer: Jim Coogan’s talk on Cape Cod history is on April 18th at 1:30 in the Lorusso Building’s Atrium/Solarium so sign up at the front desk. Jim knows so much about the Cape. Our first ever Poetry Slam is at 5 pm on April 19 at the Cape Media Center, 17 Shad Hole Rd. Dennis Port. Be there! There are many talented poets among us. Lastly, the annual Spring Social at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa is Thursday, April 27th from 5-7pm. The price is $23.00 per person and you must sign up with your check or cash in the ALL office or mail your name and check to Academy for Life Long Learning, Cape Cod Community College, 2240 Iyannough Road, West Barnstable, MA 02668-1599. The deadline to sign up is April 19th. Don’t miss out!
As the current ALL year comes to a close, I want to thank everyone involved with our organization. Coordinators, you are the life blood of ALL. Members sign up to take interesting, varied, and timely classes because of you. Your dedication, preparation and presentation keep members returning each semester.
ALL Board of Directors, plus Holly Anderson and Henry Tamzarian - most of us have served together for 5 or 6 years. Your dedication to ALL is extraordinary. You have put in many long hours to keep ALL afloat during COVID, worked through problems, and found new and different ways to run our classes as well as strengthen our organization. I am so blessed to work with you all as we continue to move forward.
Next, we would not exist without YOU – the ALL members, new and old, who continue to take classes, volunteer to serve on committees or the desk, and attend special and social events. You are ALL. You make this organization a continued success.
Lastly, thank you, Cynthia Jayne, for stepping in as office administrator and keeping ALL on course. There’s a lot to learn, and you do it with a smile.
THANK YOU ALL!

Why Not Teach The Course You Want To Take?
|
|
|
Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here
? (Call-to-Action)
Course Proposals Welcome !
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
|
|
The Course Portal Is Still Open!
Tai Chi, Mahjong, Chicago (Party) Bridge, Artificial Intelligence, Contemporary Music, How to Talk to Your Grandchildren. These are courses ALL members have said they would love to take. There are many other wonderful ideas out there as well.
However, we need coordinators to teach them!
If you have passion in these (or other interesting areas), consider offering a course this fall. If this sounds interesting, but you are hesitant about being a coordinator, please contact our Curriculum Committee at lifelonglearning@capecod.edu (774-330-4400).They will guide you through the process and provide support.
An added incentive... ALL membership is free to coordinators!
The Curriculum committee is looking forward to talking with you and to the arrival of your course proposals.

Search for New "Reflections" Editor
|
|
|
"Reflections" is ALL's art and literary magazine. It is both for ALL members and by ALL members and features their creativity.
|
|
On February 23, Refections held its annual launch of the 2023 edition in the Atrium of the Lorusso Technology Building. Several contributors read their writing for the guests. The 2023 anthology showcases poems, essays and stories plus the work of several photographers. The skill and interests of a variety of ALL members was entertaining and enlightening and deserving of inclusion in what will be a part of ALL history.
After more than a decade in the role of Reflections Editor, I need time now to pursue various ongoing interests. It is time to pass the "editorial torch" to someone else. I have asked that the search for a new editor be announced. Many wonderful committee members have been enormously helpful, while being fun to work with; some will be willing to continue to contribute their skills and insights.
The move from entirely print to both PDF and paper copy has been accomplished and I hope many readers of the newsletter have and/or will read the anthology online — being aware that you can print all or parts of it on your own printer. I will not order additional copies from the “print on demand publisher” but will gladly pass on the publisher connection to a new editor.
If you are interested in serving in this role, or in volunteering to be a part of the Reflections team, please contact the ALL office or talk with me directly.
Pictures from the February 23rd Reflections launch can be found below. Do consider contributing your writing or photography to future issues; calls for contributions will be published in the late summer issues of ALways.
Meanwhile ALL continues to offer courses I am enjoying this semester and, no doubt, I will wish to take others next fall. I recently published a novel and have another book up my sleeve. I plan to offer a course called “So you want to be a novelist” for ALL in the fall with thanks to the much loved Peter Saunders for the title inspired by his “So you want to be a poet” — a course which I’ve very much enjoyed during my many years as an ALL student.

Since then, Rona has taken numerous classes and supported the organization in a variety of ways. She enjoys all of the arts and welcomed the opportunity to support the talent of others. She recently assumed responsibility for coordinating the exhibits on the ALL Gallery outside classrooms 106 and 115.
