returntolearnUC SAN DIEGO - RETURN TO LEARN
The Return to Learn Program is a voluntary student program that screens for active SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus that causes COVID-19 disease. If you choose to participate, you will be helping potentially reduce the risks of COVID-19 outbreaks and making our UC San Diego community a healthier place.

In this initial phase, in May 2020, SARS-CoV-2 testing was be made available to resident undergraduate and graduate students currently residing on campus. Participation is voluntary, but all eligible students are encouraged to participate, and there will be no cost to the students who choose to participate.

The Return to Learn Program is for asymptomatic student volunteers only.  If you are having COVID-19 symptoms (shortness of breath, cough, fever, chills, loss of smell or taste), please call Student Health Services at 858-534-3300.

At this time UC San Diego is not able to accommodate students who do not reside in on-campus housing, nor families of students who may also live on campus. They hope to expand testing in the future so that we can accommodate many more groups.

tritontidbitsTRITON TOOLS & TIDBITS PODCAST
The sudden shift to a remote learning environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic has forced UC San Diego students to adapt to new ways of learning and connecting away from the traditional campus setting.

Triton Tools & Tidbits is a podcast that is focused on discussing topics that will engage and enrich student life and education. Brought to you by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
  • How can we as a campus community support each other, and our students, to succeed in this unique environment?
  • What tools do students need to succeed in an era of physical distancing?
  • How can students maintain connectivity to their networks in a remote environment, sustaining a sense of community while in a non-traditional campus environment?

Every Thursday, Triton Tools and Tidbits seeks to answer these questions while highlighting resources available to students across Student Affairs units and the UC San Diego campus community.

listoscaINTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY WITH LISTOS CA
The Listos California Social Bridging Project is excited to invite CASP students to interview for an internship with our impactful campaign. Interns will reach vulnerable Californians with COVID-19 related wellness check-in and disaster readiness calls. This work is critical as we connect older adults, and other vulnerable populations, with valuable resources during the pandemic and help people of all ages prepare for natural disasters as wildfires rage throughout the state.

Interns will learn valuable communication skills, disaster readiness information, and have the chance to navigate critical resources throughout the state. Interns will have the opportunity to be part of a first-of-its-kind program, helping vulnerable Californians prepare ahead for natural disasters and stay safe during the pandemic.

Background
The Listos California Social Bridging Project is anchored in the California Office of Emergency Services (Listos means "ready" in Spanish). For the past few months, the Social Bridging Project has conducted wellness check-in, and disaster readiness calls to vulnerable Californians.       Once trained, Bridgers have access to a professional support team and professionally designed Guides and Directories for each county.
Interns will use their own phone, computer/laptop and internet connection.
2-hour shifts are offered Wednesdays through Sundays.
Interns serve in two-hour shifts between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm based on their availability.
Interns call counties all across the state, not just their own.
This opportunity is available through the end of November.
Interested interns will have the chance to do additional work to deepen their learning, experience, and Impact.

Qualifications
Interested in working with vulnerable populations
Commitment to helping all Californians increase their resilience in the face of the pandemic and natural disasters

Preferences
While all qualified applicants will be welcome to participate, those with diverse linguistic and cultural competence are greatly needed

Commitment
Project runs now through the end of November
      Minimum 8 hours a week

Once you complete the application, you will receive an email with the next steps in the interview process including a group interview, signing a non-disclosure agreement, and completing a training, either live via Zoom or by watching video modules on your own time.
