Board of Supervisors Meeting Highlights - March 3
The Board of Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 3. At the meeting, supervisors approved resolution R-12-2021 to establish a voting district advisory committee to help organize districts. Supervisors also approved the minor land development for Moon Dog Park as recommended by the planning commission.
At the meeting, supervisors appointed residents to the new Moon Parks Foundation board until the first Monday in January 2023. They also held a public hearing for the planned non-residential development application for the Diamond Ridge Master Plan. They called for a motion to close the public hearing and will finalize details and come back to it in the April meeting.
The meeting also included two presentations. Moon Transportation Authority representative, Lynn Colosi, presented the history and importance of MTA in the area. Afterward, Representative Valerie Gaydos made a presentation about the state updates on the COVID vaccine.
The Board of Supervisors regular public meeting is held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. Watch live on MAG-TV, Comcast channel 18, or Verizon channel 37. MTVFC Lenten Fish Fry- Takeout Only

Come out to the Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company Annual Fish Fry every Friday through Lent from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Public Safety Building (PSB) This year there will only be a takeout option. There are 3 ways to order:
1. Call 412.262.5006 and place an order to be picked up inside the fire station.
2. Order online at moontwpfire.com. All online orders will be given to customers via curbside pickup. If you are ordering online, please park in a designated curbside pickup spot. The order will be brought to you.
3. Walk in and place an order in person.
Anyone who comes into the firehouse will have to wear a mask and must follow COVID-19 guidelines. The Moon Township Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank you for your support.

Moon Easter Bunny Neighborhood Hop
Saturday, April 3
11 a.m.-4 p.m.
On Saturday, April 3 the Moon Easter Bunny will be riding his wagon all around Moon Township. He will be visiting the five Moon Elementary Schools and all three Moon Parks. All visits will be outdoors in the parking lot. Residents are invited to choose a location near them to visit the Easter Bunny. Current social distancing guidelines will determine our photo set-up, but each child will have an opportunity to interact with the bunny, and parents are welcome to take photos. Moon Madness Scavenger Hunt
March 17 and March 24 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. $25 Moon Resident (per team)/$30 Non-Resident Fee (per team) Moon Park
Basketball Madness comes to Moon Park in March of 2021! Get ready for a fun interactive scavenger hunt through Moon Park. Each week as the March Madness bracket is released, the logo of each qualified team will be hidden throughout Moon Park. Each Wednesday, your group will be given an hour to search the park to find as many of the teams as possible. That weekend, root for your team and track the wins and losses of the teams you found in the park. The bracket gets smaller the second week and the items will be harder to find. The group who finds the most winning teams over both weeks wins a Moon Parks basketball prize basket. While those of all ages are invited to participate, each team must include someone 18 years or older. After a year of social distancing, this is a great way to safely spend time outdoors with friends and family! For more information, visit moonparks.org.

2021 Pavilion Rentals
Moon Parks and Recreation is taking pavilion rental reservations for the 2021 season. Pavilion rentals can be arranged by calling the Parks and Recreation office at 412.262.1703.
Reservation and payment must be made by the residents to receive the resident rate. Rentals cannot be made in another person's name to get the resident rate.
Reservations can be made for dates from May through September. Monday-Friday at weekday rates, Saturday & Sunday at weekend rates. Only residents of Moon Township receive the resident rate. All agreements and payments must come from the resident.

MCA-TV Public Awareness Weekend

MCA-TV is excited to announce Public Awareness Weekend is on March 26 & 27, 2021. Tune in to Public Awareness Weekend, a two-day, 24-hour, television event to see interviews with Pittsburgh area nonprofit organizations!
MCA-TV reaches over 45,000 households with your message. Each nonprofit organization had 30 minutes to educate and explain their cause. The event will air beginning on March 26 on MCA-TV, Comcast channel 14, and Verizon Fios channel 35.

Curbside Pickups
Curbside Yard Waste Pickup

Pickups follow residents' regular garbage collection. Simply place yard waste at the curb by 8 a.m. on pickup day. Residents are reminded to use biodegradable paper bags. Yard waste in plastic bags or boxes will not be picked up.
Curbside Tree Branch Pickup

Pickups generally follow residents' regular garbage collection. Please place branches at the curb no later than 8 a.m. on pickup day. Tree branches should not exceed six feet in length and four inches in diameter and should not be bundled or tied. This is a separate pick up from the yard waste collection, so do not be alarmed with crews do not come at the same time.
Drop Off Site at Downes Fire Station Closed
The drop off site at the Downes Fire Station is closed for dumping of brush and leaves. No dumping is permitted. A new site will be opening Saturday, April 3 at Moon Park. Please check back in a few weeks for more details.

Electronics Recycling Day

Moon Township's Environmental Advisory Council, in partnership with JVS Environmental, hosts electronics collection days to gather unused and unwanted electronic items. These events collect electronic items only, including printers, copiers, computers, laptops, and televisions. Only one television per vehicle will be accepted. Other items, such as appliances containing FREON and fluorescent lighting will be collected for a fee.

Brewer Airport Toyota Film Fest is Back

The Brewer Airport Toyota Film Festival returns in May, marking its 10th year for the competition. MCA-TV invites local filmmakers to test their creativity for a chance to win! Films will be judged on originality, creativity, the strength of plot, story structure, characters, cinematography, direction, entertainment value, dialogue (character interaction), and overall quality. All submissions will be broken down into feature-length and short film categories. MCA-TV will award more than $2,500 in prizes.
Enter your original film before the May 14, 2021 deadline, and watch the event live on MCA-TV on Saturday, May 29. Films will be judged by a panel of film experts from the Pittsburgh Area. You do not have to be a Moon Township resident to participate. For more information, visit mca-tv.org.

Promote Your Event on the Community Bulletin Board
Is your organization or nonprofit looking to get the word out about an upcoming event? MCA-TV offers a bulletin board service for Moon Township residents to publicize their community program or event in-between regularly scheduled programming. The community bulletin board is an automated, computer-generated video graphics message service provided free of charge to all Moon Township residents as well as nonprofit groups and organizations. Memorial Opportunities at Moon Parks
Are you looking for a way to honor a loved one? Consider dedicating a brick, bench, or tree to your loved one. Bricks may be engraved and placed at either the Memorial Garden at the Moon Township Building or surrounding the Flagpole at Moon Park. Benches are available in multiple designs and include a custom plaque. Benches can be placed at any one of our Moon Township Parks. Ask Alexa or Google

Moon Township collaborated with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to bring voice-activated
e-gov to resident's households. This will allow users to download the skill of "Make it Moon" through their Google or Alexa app and then speak to their device to ask about events in Moon or report a problem.
This feature also allows users to find out when events are going on by asking questions such as "When is trick or treat?" or "What do I do with my tree limbs?" Also, it can be used like the e-gov service offered online through the municipality to report problems and ask questions.
