Congratulations Norman Rockwell

The PTA is proud to share very exciting news! We’ve been designated a School of Excellence by the National PTA for the 2020-2022 academic school years.

This means that of the tens of thousands of local PTAs across the country, your Norman Rockwell PTA was recognized by the national PTA as being a school that is deeply committed to the educational experience and overall well-being of all its students. This is the second consecutive term we’ve been granted this esteemed national award! (and we are literally the only school in the entire state to have been granted this designation twice since 2018!!).

I want to take a moment to brag about your amazing PTA board, and to give a special thanks to two members of last year's board who carried the lion's share of the work towards our School of Excellent designation: Elaine Bentzinger & Mohammed El Hassouni. These two dedicated parent volunteers deserve a round of applause from the entire school community. Principal Clark and our school counselor, Kristen Bauer, also provided hours of help and feedback in the lengthy application process. Thank you so much to everyone who responded to our PTA surveys last year. You provided invaluable input in helping your PTA focus our family engagement efforts.

We plan to keep this exciting momentum moving forward, so be on the lookout for additional surveys throughout the year as your PTA strives to meet the needs and goals of all members in our Rockwell school community.
Membership Drive

The PTA is aiming for 100% family participation this year.

Yes, that means we are hoping every single family in the school community will join the PTA! Who wouldn't want to be part of an organization that just earned the School of Excellence Designation for the 4th consecutive year?!

In the coming weeks we will share details about our membership drive. Every single person who joins the PTA will be entered into a drawing to win a number of exciting prizes, including:

  • $50 off custom framing at Ben Franklin
  • $25 gift card to Spark Pizza
  • $25 gift card to Village Square Café
  • $25 gift card to Dough Zone

Our membership drive starts now and runs through the end of September. As a reminder, even if you were a member of the PTA last year or the year before, you have to join the PTA every year. Beat the crowds and CLICK HERE to join the PTA.

If you have a prize you'd like to donate to the membership drive, please email Denice at president@normanrockwellpta.org.
Open Board Positions

The PTA has two open board positions right now: Legislative Advocate and VP of Fundraising. A brief description of each role is included below:

Legislative Advocate: This person attends the legislative assembly in October, and is Rockwell PTA’s voting delegate. This person keeps our school informed on matters affecting education on the local and state level through occasional Bugle articles and updates at board and membership meetings. Time commitment is 2-4 hours per month for the academic school year.

VP of Fundraising: This person oversees all fundraising efforts by the PTA; most importantly, the Annual Beagle Contribution (ABC) fund. This person also supports chairs for the dine-out program, bi-annual box top program, spirit wear orders, read-a-thon, and other fundraising programs throughout the year. This person oversees other passive income opportunities (such as Amazon Smile). Time commitment is 4-6 hours per month in August – October, and 2-4 hours per month in November – June.

If you're interested in joining the board, please reach out to Denice at president@normanrockwellpta.org.
