March 5, 2023

Our next meeting is Monday, March 6, 2023. Our meeting is from 9:30AM to 11:00AM, but may go to 11:30AM.

There are bills to review & take positions on

Jeanette Hensley and Rich Mauro will lead us in reviewing bills that have been added to our CCA Bill Tracker. We will also take positions on bills that were reviewed at last week's meeting and we will be looking for at least one member to step forward for each bill we are keeping on our list.

Rich will also review the Legislative Caucus on Aging that was held on Friday, March 3rd. An important comment from the meeting from legislators was how much weight an older adult putting their voice and face to a situation counts when advocating for older adults at the Capitol. Rich will also share information from the last CCA Huddle.

Our approach is to review the bills one week and then the following week our members vote on whether to monitor, support, strongly support, or oppose. If we keep a bill in our Bill watch account, we need a member to step up as a point of contact.

We ask that those who have volunteered to track a specific bill

be prepared to report to the group on its status.

ACC 3.0 Presentation - Colorado's Aging Population Presentation from Joint House Health and Human Services - Upon Adjournment - Old State Library

This is a momentary combination of the House Health & Insurance Committee and the House Public & Behavioral Health & Human Services Committee for the sole purpose of hearing these presentations. You will be able to listen in virtually the same as any committee meeting.

"ACC 3.0" translates to "Preparing for Accountable Care Collaborative: Phase III". It’s a program of the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing. The Department created the Accountable Care Collaborative (ACC) in 2011 to deliver cost-effective, quality health care services to its Colorado Medicaid members and to improve the health of Coloradans. The ACC features Regional Accountable Entities (RAEs) operating in seven regions.

Colorado lawmakers are targeting hospital facility fees.

Here’s why that’s a big deal.

"House Bill 1215 would ban hospitals from charging facility fees for most outpatient visits, ending what proponents say is an unnecessary add-on that boosts hospitals’ bottom line. Last year, Diane Kruse and her husband, Kevin, went to visit the doctor.

Kevin needed to get some things checked out with his heart, nothing urgent or out of the ordinary. After looking through their insurance network, they settled on a cardiologist working at a satellite clinic on the National Jewish Health campus in Denver. The visit felt routine — the only piece of equipment the doctor needed to use was a stethoscope. But it was the bills that came as a surprise ..." - READ MORE
