FROM THE CHIEF
Dear Residents,

Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 3-9) is upon us so it's a great time for families and businesses to learn about fire safety issues. This week can also serve as a reminder to check your smoke alarms in your home or business.

Please remember to exercise caution this upcoming holiday season. Whether you're celebrating Halloween outdoors or cooking holiday meals in your kitchen, remember to keep safety in mind. We've included some holiday safety tips for you to review below.

Have you seen our new Johns Creek Fire Station 64? It officially opened in May, and we hope you'll stop by for a tour (request a station tour here) and check out the new Quint 64 truck, too!

We hope you'll stay connected with us - follow along on our FacebookTwitter, and Instagram accounts to see photos, news, and safety information.

Stay safe this fall,

Chris Coons
Johns Creek Fire Chief

Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 3-9, 2021
This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety!” works to educate everyone about the different sounds the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms make

Stay safe this Halloween
Glowing jack-o-lanterns, decorative dried cornstalks, and paper ghosts are all fun Halloween traditions - but they can also be a safety hazard. Check out some Halloween safety tips from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
Fall back! Change alarm batteries Nov. 1
Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour when Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, Nov. 1. It's also a great time to check your smoke alarm battery and carbon monoxide detector battery, as many need replacing every six months.

Check the manufacturer date of your smoke alarms while changing your batteries. It is recommended that you replace your smoke alarms every 10 years. You can find the manufacturer date on the bottom side of the detector, usually on a sticker, located near the battery compartment.
