A Novena of Masses
for the Suffering Church

“Only two things can save us in such a grave hour: devotion to Mary and frequent Communion.” - St. John Bosco

Greetings!

Many are aware of the prophetic dream of St. John Bosco. He saw a vision of the Church as a ship under attack on every side by her enemies. At its helm, the Holy Father had to steer the ship to safety between two pillars, one topped by an image of Our Lady Help of Christians, the other topped by the Holy Eucharist. All looked lost when the ship was finally able to pass through and anchor to the pillars. Her enemies vanquished, they dispersed.

When describing this dream, St. John Bosco prophesied, “Very grave trials await the Church. What we have suffered so far is almost nothing compared to what is going to happen. The enemies of the Church are symbolized by the ships which strive their utmost to sink the flagship. Only two things can save us in such a grave hour: devotion to Mary and frequent Communion. Let us do our very best to use these two means and have others use them everywhere.”

Right now, our beleaguered Church needs to be strengthened. We've been hit with scandal, division, sacrilegious attacks and Covid-19. Our churches were literally closed for months. And now that they are reopening, many are too scared to attend. Or worse yet, they have just decided it's no longer important to attend in person when they can watch online or via television.

Yes, the Church needs to be strengthened. We must turn to Our Lady and most especially, to Our Lord Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. We must pray for a tsunami of grace for the wounded Body of Christ.

I invite you to join in our upcoming Novena of Masses for the Suffering Church and for the strengthening of all of us who love the Church and desire for it to be that shining city on a hill that God created her to be.
This Novena will begin on October 14th and will conclude on October 22nd. Our dear friend, Rev. Father John Peter Olum, a priest of the Archdiocese of Gulu, Northern Uganda, will celebrate this special Novena of Masses.

I am sure we all know someone who has been affected by Covid-19, the scandals and other challenges in the Church. We especially pray for our leaders - Our Holy Father, bishops, priests, seminarians and other religious. God knows the intentions of our hearts; however, should you wish to enroll them or share a special intention for this Novena of Masses, please do so below.
Let us pray, fast and offer masses, as well as hold onto the hope of Christ’s promise that the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church. Let us turn to Our Lady and Our Lord Jesus, in the Holy Eucharist.

May God bless you and may the abundant life of Jesus Christ be yours.

In His Service and with gratitude,
Johnnette Benkovic Williams
Founder and President
