Greetings from Bright's Creek,
Yesterday we had the pleasure of having 104 golfers participate in the Hunter Subaru Drive for Kids, benefitting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hendersonville. Tom and Sue Fazio have been long-time supporters and advocates for the Boys and Girls Club.
Mr. Fazio participated in the event and continues to have high praise for the course and continued progress of Bright’s Creek.
As we head into the warm summer months, please remember that nature and all its wildlife peacefully coexist with our community. When playing golf, be careful in searching for your golf ball, mindful of where you step or reach. We have recently treated for fire ants. This is an annual treatment, and you will see the ant hills gradually die out over the next few weeks.
It's hard to believe we are almost halfway through 2022 already and the first official day of summer is just around the corner. Throughout the summer most of the golf maintenance time will be dedicated to routine maintenance and a few small projects. The Bermuda grass is loving the hot weather and it will require a lot of mowing to keep it in great playing condition. On the other hand, our Bentgrass greens will be under much higher stress levels and will require constant monitoring and hand watering to keep them alive through the summer. Disease pressure is at its peak through the summer months and ensuring the turf has just the right amount of water becomes particularly important. Over watering leads to increased disease development but under watering will result in wilting in the afternoon. At times there is a fine line between the two therefore we must constantly monitor soil moisture on the greens and water as needed throughout the day.
With this maintenance schedule in mind, we will close the course on Tuesdays for the summer season starting June 28th and re-open on Tuesdays after Labor Day. We do ask that members refrain from using the course on days we are closed. This allows our agronomy team to address maintenance needs and protects the safety of all involved.
Recently the comfort station on hole #6 has been without water and unavailable for use. This afternoon, Aqua restored water service and the comfort station is now available. Thank you for your patience in this matter.
June will be a busy month at the Club. Our Club Championships will be held on Saturday, June 11th, and Sunday, June 12th. You can register for this tournament by calling the golf shop. Our Ladies Invitational is on June 17th with the practice round and welcome party on the 16th. Throughout the month we have several Members hosting guests, and we will finish the month with our Nine and Dine on June 24th.
Regards and thank you for your support of the club,
Steve Alden | General Manager
