Yahoo!

I have written and re-written and re-written this email to y'all so many times over the past couple months. Sorry it's taken so long for me to get the words just right and to hit the send button. Thanks for your patience and enduring support!

If I had to summarize this email, and actually all of Rainshadow right now, into one three-word phrase it would be "tentative but hopeful". Tentative because there are still so many unknowns with COVID and what we will be able to safely do this year. Hopeful because vaccinations are up and cases/hospitalizations/deaths are way down(although in the past week the cases have started to go back up and that has me concerned). It's too soon to say for sure if any of our races will happen this year but it sure is looking good and we're actively working towards making that happen.

I've posted our TENTATIVE event calendar for the year on our website and with each race I give a short message about the outlook for that race for this year. I'll give ya a quick summary:

  • Orcas Island 25k, 50k & 100 miler cancelled due to COVID

  • Gorge Waterfalls 100k & 50k cancelled due to trail closure

  • Yakima Skyline 50k & 25k cancelled due to bridge repairs

  • Everything else "tentative but hopeful"

Other Updates:

  • We have simplified our cancellation policy which applies to both when a runner needs/wants to cancel and when we(Rainshadow) have to cancel a race. Runners who were rolled over to this year's Yakima Skyline or any other race of ours this year will be given the same cancellation options.

  • All runners who chose the rollover option from a race that we cancelled last year will get an email soon with instructions on how to complete the rollover process and finalize their registration for the 2021 race. If you chose to rollover your entry please double check our rollover master list to make sure we have you on our list.

  • If you are listed as a rollover but you don't want to run the race this year or if you have any other reason you want/need to cancel your entry we totally understand and we want to make it easy on you. Please see our updated cancellation policies. For rollover runners we might be able to allow you to change distances if you want(if space in the other distance allows) just email us at info@rainshadowrunning.com

  • We are in the process of updating our website and race pages but lots of work still to be done on that front. I just didn't want to wait any longer to get an email out with at least some info. So give us some time to get all the details for each race updated.

  • More info and updates on new programs, policies, registration process, and maybe even some new events to come soon. Stay tuned!

  • The photos in this email are by Glenn Tachiyama from our Sun Mountain races. Please consider buying a photo or two from Glenn as he hasn't had any race income for over a year! He's got all kinds of great landscape photos as well as photos from races going all the way back to 2002 White River, 2002 Cascade Crest 100, 2003 Chuckanut 50k and many many more!
Thanks so much and take care of each other out there! I'll be in touch again soon!
