NEWS FROM THE GW CANCER CENTER
|
|
The George Washington University Cancer Center is delighted to announce the beta launch of its new Cancer Control TAP website! As you know, the TAP provides comprehensive cancer control programs and coalitions with a centralized library of resources, training, and technical assistance on a variety of cancer-related topics. Access the TAP website today! We'd love to hear your feedback about the site. Contact us at cancercontrol@gwu.edu!
Through funding and support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the GW Cancer Center has updated its breast cancer awareness month campaign (formerly "social media toolkit")! Although the name has changed, you will still find tips for getting started on social media and sample messaging for Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, including messaging around COVID-19 -- all of which are now downloadable! Access the campaign today and let us know what you think!
The GW Cancer Center's evidence-based Oncology Patient Navigator Training: The Fundamentals is now available to download in PowerPoint, complete with talking points and considerations for international learners. While the video version of our training is still available on the Online Academy, we created a new version for those who wish to adapt the curriculum to their context and setting. Download the adaptable files.
Mandi Pratt-Chapman, PhD, Associate Center Director, Patient-Centered Initiatives and Health Equity for the GW Cancer Center, was honored with the 2021 Early-Stage Investigator Award during the recent NIH Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) Research Investigator Awards. This program was developed to recognize investigators who have made substantial and outstanding research contributions in areas related to SGM health. Congratulations, Mandi!
The Comprehensive Cancer Control National Partnership Sustaining Coalitions work group hosts quarterly check-ins by Zoom for CCC coalitions and programs related to sustaining coalitions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Join the CCCNP for a special installment of the series on October 26 at 4pm EDT, when Wen-Ying Sylvia Chou, PhD, MPH, National Cancer Institute, will discusses “Addressing Health Misinformation.” Click here to access Zoom call-in information. Guest presentations and notes from previous check-ins are available here.

The NNN provides training, technical assistance and resources to a variety of health professionals serving tribes and tribal organizations, including state and local health departments. On October 20, the NNN will host a webinar entitled, "Exploring New Trends in Tobacco Policy and Use in Indian Country."
