Parents and Guardians,
I am sure I don’t have to tell you, but this weekend we have a four-day holiday. LISD students and teachers will not have school on Friday, October 8th and Monday October 11th. I hope you and your student get a chance to spend some time together and enjoy the short break from school. Dual Credit students will need to communicate with their individual professors to determine if those classes will be meeting.
Early Sunday morning a group of individuals forcibly removed and then took 8 recently installed speed bumps from the LHS parking lot. We have reported this to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office and they are conducting an investigation. If you have any information about this event, or the individuals that may have done this, please contact LHS at 469-742-8700 or the CCSO at 972-547-5100.
Over the past month many students across the nation have participated in TikTok challenges to vandalize or take property from their school. Some social media posts indicate that in the month of October the “challenge” is to slap a school staff member. Although I highly doubt our students would engage in this behavior, I encourage you to take the opportunity to speak with your student about making wise decisions regarding social media challenges as well as the possible negative consequences that could result.
Please take a few minutes to read the additional information below and thank you for partnering with us in growing and supporting our students.
Sincerely,
Chris Mayfield
Principal

Senior Projects
The Senior Project is a culminating high school experience that allows students to demonstrate their abilities to write, speak, acquire and apply knowledge, solve problems, and apply a variety of skills, including time management and task analysis. It is intended to demonstrate what students know and can do as they prepare to graduate. The Senior Project prepares students for college and/or the workplace, and it can help them transform the senior year into one that is uniquely challenging and stimulating. The Senior Project is performance based and adaptable to most topics of interest.
We would love to have Junior and Senior parents judging projects this year.
