Technology Notes
Is your student's iPad damaged or have a poor battery life?
The end of the school year is a fantastic opportunity to fix any issues with technology that you may be experiencing. *Please wait until students are finished with all finals/projects so it does not interfere with the end of the grade term.
Perform any software updates that need to occur:
Under Setting>General>Software updates - update the iPad's software to the latest version. The same can be done for apps that may need updates by accessing the app store > purchased > updates.
Does your iPad need repairs? Replaced?
The iPads provided by SFDHS have AppleCare+ for iPad. AppleCare+ is Apple's version of insurance and all school iPads have a term of 3 years of coverage. To find out the terms/end date of your coverage, open the Settings app > General > About. On the right hand side you should see AppleCare+ under the Serial Number; the end date is determined by student's graduation year.
AppleCare+ covers cracked screens, poor battery life and other hardware issues. We strongly recommend that you utilize this insurance should you have any issues with your iPad. Please note: you must get this AppleCare+ claim done at an Apple Store. There are two Apple Stores in Columbus; one at Easton and one at Polaris. There is also a cost to having any claim completed and that can be found in the link provided here.
If a decision is made to use this service, the student will need to inform SFD Director of Technology, Mr. Murphy, via email that they have had their iPad replaced. Informing the school will allow the Technology Department to update records and to push the school issued apps to the student iPad. SFDHS has approximately 20 pre-purchased apps that we provide to the students to avoid any costs. Please contact tech@desales.co or murphy@desales.co if a claim is made.
Please contact Director of Technology, Mr. Patrick Murphy, with any questions or concerns.

Officiating Independent Study
Beginning next Fall, SFD will be offering officiating courses through Ref Preps as an independent study!
A survey of state high school associations indicates that approximately 50,000 individuals have discontinued their service as high school officials since the 2018-19 season – the last full school year unaffected by the pandemic.
Over the past 12 months, you have probably experienced the shortage of officials personally, whether a game was cancelled or postponed due to the lack of officials available on a given day, or maybe you played a game with one or two fewer officials/umpires than normal.
You can be a part of the solution to our officials shortage, stay close to the game you love, and make money in the process (great for students heading off to college)! If you are a graduating senior, current/past parent, or faculty member, we would encourage you to look into officiating as well, you can visit www.ohsaa.org/Officiating/permits to learn more!
Current students, the deadline to register is July 8th! Register Here.

Dear Lord, we so much want to live in the light of your faithfulness. Help us never to become complacent in our journey with you. Guide us to be more giving—better listeners, slower to judge, and champions of others. Amen.
