Seeking 2021-2022 Room Parents
If you're seeking greater involvement with your child's class, consider being a Room Parent! Our HPS Room Parents provide a channel of communication between parents and teachers. These parents are a part of the classroom environment in the following areas: organizing class parties, assisting in teacher special requests, organizing a basket of prizes/goodies to be raffled at the Spring Celebration, and coordinating teacher holiday and end-of-year gifts. This is a very special and appreciated leadership role! You can sign up here under your child's homeroom teacher name:

New Leaf Kitchen is Offering Saturday Kids' Cooking Classes!
New Leaf Kitchen, a local Cincinnati non-profit organization, has been a strong partner of Hyde Park School by offering its beloved cooking club as one of HPS's extracurricular programs. New Leaf Kitchen's mission is to nourish young minds and bodies through cooking and food education. Now, New Leaf Kitchen is back from its Covid shutdown and offering a Saturday Cooking Club (and, soon to come, its Weekly Cooking Club at HPS)! And stay tuned for information about the Weekly Cooking Club at HPS.
Stay Tuned for Extracurricular Activity Info in This Week's Tuesday Folder
After-school programs and extracurricular activities provide a richer environment to help students learn and grow. At Hyde Park School, the PTO implements a variety of programs and activities so that students can explore and develop new interests such as Karate, chess, Yoga, Girl Scouts, cooking, and more! Be on the lookout in this week's Tuesday Folder for information about Extracurricular Activities. Sign-ups will open on August 31.
Seeking Kindergarten Lunch & Recess Volunteers
Our youngest students are in need of some assistance during lunchtime! Tasks like opening cheese sticks, yogurt lids, and even putting straws in drink boxes can be challenging to little hands! If you could spare an hour of your time, please join our lunch and recess period to help make the most of this important hour of their day. And while the added bonus of visiting your special Kindergartener is undeniable, please make sure you assist and monitor all the Kindergarteners in the cafeteria and on the playground. Save the Date & Consider Volunteering: the HPS Pumpkin Chuck Returns on November 6!
The Pumpkin Chuck is HPS's biggest school-wide event of the year! It is AWESOME! It is the definition of a FUNdraiser, and YOU can help make it happen! If you're new to HPS or haven't participated in the past, just imagine it's a crisp November day right after Halloween. You pluck your now semi-rotting but beautifully carved pumpkin from the squirrels who had been feasting on it. Close your eyes now, and imagine that same pumpkin being chucked through the air via a professionally-engineered catapult across the HPS parking lot and splatting into pumpkin mush on said parking lot, perhaps even hitting a target on its way through the air. Wipe the tear from your eye and further imagine some music, baked goods, and other cool booths to complete the surrounding ambiance--and that is the HPS Pumpkin Chuck in a nutshell (or a pumpkin seed).
If you'd like to volunteer to help with a booth, please contact Ashley Tolokonsky at ashleymat@yahoo.com. If you're good with gadgets and want to learn how to work the catapult, please contact Matt Sample at hokiebird2@gmail.com.
HPS Spirit Wear on Pause But Coming Soon....
Due to staffing shortages and supply chain issues, our previous spirit wear partner Koch's Sporting Goods was forced to shut down the HPS Spirit Wear website. But don't fret, the HPS PTO is lining up a new spirit wear provider and will launch a Spirit Wear sale in the coming weeks. So stay tuned, the HPS Fall Spirit Wear Sale will just be a bit deeper into Fall rather than in the end of Summer!
