We're consolidating our mailings! Here is a link to the Bulletin (this means to click on the word Bulletin and it will bring you to it) for Sunday's Zoom Service. The lyrics to the hymns are on the last pages of the Bulletin. Also, please make sure all of your information has been updated at InstantChurchDirectory.com and upload a picture of you and/or your family.

Saint Martin's
Trunk or Treat
Sunday, October 25th
3pm to 5pm
Bring a carload of fairies and ghouls and drive by decorated trunks! With safety in mind, children will receive a treat bag at the end.

Together with the United Reformed Church in Somerville, we are looking for donations of new socks to meet the needs of our local homeless population and others in need. A drop box will be available at the Trunk or Treat!

Opportunities to support the Trunk or Treat
Decorate a Trunk! More volunteers welcome. Contact Christine Kellam @ auntie_weenie@hotmail.com

Drive by our Trunk or Treat on the 25th! Support your parishioner's creative efforts!

Baptisms
This Saturday, October 24 at 9:30a.m., Violet Kichura will receive the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, and at 3:00 p.m., Leo Matthew Zazzali will receive the Sacrament. These baptisms will take place at the church under strict adherence to the regulations specified by the Diocese of New Jersey, and are for immediate family only.
Keeper of the Light
There is a light at St. Martin's that never goes out. We call it the "Sanctuary Light". It reminds us of the presence of Christ who is with us always. During this time when we are not able to be in our building, members of the parish have been taking turns caring for the light in their own home and then passing it on to another member for the next week, until we can all be together again in the church building. If you would like to be the "Keeper of the Light" for a week, email Philip with the subject "Candle" at philip.muniz@gmail.com.
Fall Clean Up at St. Martin's Church!
Please join us this Saturday (10/24) between 9 and 12 am to do some outside ground work. Here is a list of things that need to be done:
  • remove ivy from outside walls of garage and back of church
  • remove falling down split rail fences
  • trim trees/bushes on back of education building
  • reposition rocks making labyrinth paths
  • plant some bushes/shrubs
Wear your gardening clothes, and definitely bring gardening gloves. And, while some gardening tools are there, please bring whatever you need for the task you choose to do. For all our safety, please remember that social distancing is a must, and masks should be worn (when close to others outside).
Thank you all for making St. Martin's a wonderful community, and a special thank you for all who are able to join us.
Honest to God with The Most Rev. Michael B. Curry

Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 6:00

A preacher, teacher and pastor, Bishop Curry encourages Christians to practice the “loving, liberating and life-giving Way of the Jesus Movement.” This Honest to God conversation with Dean Hollerith reflects on respecting the dignity of every human being during this challenging, conflicted time.

This event was so popular that it is now at capacity and you can't log into the Zoom meeting. But please go to cathedral.org to watch the recording some time this week.
EMAIL ALISON at randyali@aol.com if you have anything to put in this newsletter.
Stewardship
Recently you should have received a pledge card in the mail.

Last week, Fr. Tim spoke about his job at a ski shop where there were two types of customers: Browsers or buyers. Which one are you in regards to St. Martin's? Please consider pledging whatever you can afford to make sure we are on solid ground when our new rector, Fr. Laws, arrives in December.

Each week we will give you an update on how many pledges have been received and our progress towards our goal.
Prayer Requests
During our Coffee quarter hour every Sunday, we ask people to tell us their prayer requests.

We lift up this week in prayer:

Linda Virtue, Mary Irwin and her daughter Alexis her primary caregiver, Diane, Marie, Lorraine and Joe.

Outreach
This month’s Outreach goal is to assist SHIP. They are very much in need of casseroles for their food truck and we are requesting that parishioners make any type casserole for SHIP. Casseroles (frozen or not) can be dropped off at the SHIP office from 8:30 to 2:00, Monday through Friday. They also are in need of pop top cans, such as Chef-Boy-R-Dee or prepared tuna meals, and snacks such as potato chips, cookies, crackers. These items can be dropped off at the time the casseroles are delivered. The SHIP office is located at 87 E. High Street, Somerville, NJ.

Either email me
