Your patients are confused about Medicare (yes, quite the understatement!). Join Mary Jo Heins for an inside look at Medicare and what she wished she had known when she worked in a medical practice. Mary Jo will break down Medicare into language you can use with your patients.

Mary Jo Heins comes from medical practice background. She spent 15 years managing a variety of medical practices and served as the president of the Colorado Medical Group Management Association during that time. Mary Jo is an independent insurance agent, contracted with a dozen insurance companies, but does not work for them. Mary Jo’s interests include biking, scuba diving and working with her favorite non-profit, CrossPurpose, which helps people escape poverty through personal and career development.

COPIC opioid seminars for 2023 licensure renewal

Two one-hour virtual seminars; attendees will receive 1 COPIC point and 1.0-hour of CME for attending


COPIC is pleased to offer virtual presentations regarding opioids that providers may use to meet the two hours of training requirements as stated by the Colorado Medical Board for licensure renewal in 2023. There is no cost to attend these, and one COPIC point will be awarded per session for eligible insureds.

Free education for Colorado physicians: Consortium lunch and learn series


The Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention's successful lunch and learn series is back for another year. Join the Consortium and learn from experts about new regulations, what life is like running a harm reduction facility, or how psychedelics could remake clinical practice. 


All sessions are offered over Zoom and begin at noon. Upcoming sessions include:

Additional opportunity to help earthquake survivors in Syria


Sami Diab, MD, and his wife Liliane Diab, MD, will host a silent auction at their home in Greenwood Village on Wednesday, March 8, 6-8 p.m., to help the victims of the February earthquake in Syria. They are raising funds through the St. Rita Foundation for Children, a 501(c)(3) organization that has connections and existing work in the area since 2017. This charity was started by Drs. Diab, both physicians working for the Children's Hospital and the University of Colorado. Medical students: Apply for CMS scholarships; deadlines in April


The Colorado Medical Society Education Foundation has opened the application period for medical student scholarships.


The Alfred D. Gilchrist Student Leader Scholarship is open to third- and fourth-year Colorado medical students who have demonstrated a significant leadership contribution to organized medicine. The 2023 distribution will be as high as $10,000 total. Deadline: April 28, 2023. Read more here.


The Rural Track Scholarship is open to Colorado medical students finishing their first year of a rural medicine track or program. The 2023 distribution will be as high as $20,000 total. Deadline: April 3, 2023. Read more here.
