Exploring Hoopla Magazines
I am a tea drinker and come from a long line of tea drinkers. It is my goal to make our country tea-focused again. It seems we never recovered from that entire Boston Tea Party Incident and coffee shops now litter the landscape. Pity the lone tea drinker searching for a decent cuppa in a country of coffee enthusiasts.
So while browsing Hoopla the other night to learn what is available for our patrons, imagine my DELIGHT when I found a magazine called Tea Time. Filled with photos of tables set for tea, recipes for sweet and savory tea treats and places to visit who cater to the tea lover, I could not put it down. I even downloaded it into my iPad for future readings. I day-dreamed over beautiful china decorated with shamrocks, a tea pot shaped like a whimsical rabbit and three-tiered serving trays filled to the brim with tea sandwiches, scones and cookies. Somebody pinch me! Can this be real?
Do you want to take an imaginary journey to Tea Nirvana with me? All you need is your library card and Internet access. If you haven’t set up your Hoopla account yet, go to https://www.hoopladigital.com and enter your library card number and PIN (which is the last four digits of your phone number.) You will then be asked to create a username and password.
To browse the magazines, click on “browse” at the top of the Hoopla screen and choose “BingePasses.” Click on “Hoopla Magazine BingePass.” This pass counts as one checkout (out of the five you can have in Hoopla for the month) and is good for one week. You can view any and all magazines as many times as you like for the entire week. This is where you will find Tea Time and more than 100 other titles to choose from. If tea isn’t your drink, there are magazines for wine and whiskey drinkers, too. There are many familiar titles, but also some are off the beaten path such as Fido Friendly, Baseball America, Garden & Gun, Plane & Pilot, Southern Cast Iron, and Yachting. I guarantee there is something for every taste!
