It's Black Maternal Health Week! #BMHW


Held annually from April 11 to April 17, the campaign was founded and is led by Black Mamas Matter Alliance with the goal of building awareness, activism, and community-building​ to amplify ​the voices, perspectives, and lived experiences of Black Mamas and birthing people. This year's theme is β€œOur Bodies Belong to Us: Restoring Black Autonomy and Joy!”

Protecting Black Children's Health Through Community-Led Healing

The Children's Partnership is hosting a live-streamed conversation on Wednesday, April 12 at noon that will center the health and well-being of Black children, protective factors that nourish them, and community-led healing strategies. PTBi Executive Director Alexis Cobbins and PTBi Associate Director Solaire Spellen will both be speaking.

Tia Freeman's Birth Story

Buckle up β€” you have never heard a birth story like this before! To kick off #BMHW23, our very own LaKia Williams hosted Tia, a content creator and sex educator, to share her story of being unaware that she was pregnant and then, giving birth abroad in Turkey.

On Friday, April 14 at noon, For The Culture will be featuring PTBi on IG Live to talk about the strategic consulting being done as we shift from an initiative to a center. Woman of color-founded, For The Culture is an equity and culture shift firm that builds their work on trust, transparency, and a shared vision for an equitable future.
