Dear Parishioners,

During the pandemic I decided to write and publish a hardbound book entitled “Stories of My Life.” Some are biographical, some funny, some scary, some inspiring, all of them interesting and true. I originally intended the book for family and close friends, but as it began to take shape, I decided to offer it as a fundraiser for St. Joseph Parish and St. Catherine Parish in Reading. I have served these parishes for a total of fifty years.

I will pay the entire cost of publishing and printing the books. The church envelope mailing which just shipped contains an envelope for those who would like to order a copy of the book, and perhaps one for a grown son or daughter who used to know me. All proceeds will go to St. Joseph the Worker.

Your timely return of that envelope in the collection basket or at the rectory office will let me know how many books to have printed. If you don't receive envelopes, please mark a plain envelope with your name, number of copies requested, and the amount enclosed ($20 each). We'll announce their arrival and you may pick them up at church.

Sincerely,
Monsignor Smith

Donations Requested for Christmas Bags/Boxes

The Senior Friendship Group in conjunction with the Divine Mercy Cenacle is working this year to provide Christmas bags and boxes to the Lehigh County Meals on Wheels recipients and area homeless.

We are seeking donations of lotions, shampoos, body wash, deodorant, combs and brushes, soft socks, puzzle and adult coloring books, colored pencils, wallets, change purses, disposable razors, shaving cream, decks of cards, small decorative items, cleaning supplies, laundry and dish soap, toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, disinfectant sprays, and sanitizers.

For the homeless we need backpacks, 6x8, 8x10 plastic tarps, instant coffee, granola/fruit/cookie bars, thermos tumblers, small easy open cans of fruit, applesauce, face masks, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and new blankets.

Items can be placed in back of the church in labeled storage tubs or dropped off at 3320 Oxford Circle S., Allentown or call 610-841-2178 with questions or for large deliveries. Monetary donations are also appreciated. Thank you for your generosity!
