On all the ecosystems of your earth and their intricate communities,
Creator, have mercy.
On forests of many kinds; on trees and shrubs and vines,
Creator, have mercy.
On grasslands, tundras, and plains, and on their varied plants,
Creator, have mercy.
On ferns and fungi; on spore-bearing and seed-bearing plants,
Creator, have mercy.
On micro-organisms of endless variety, the complex and the simple,
Creator, have mercy.
On reptiles and amphibians;
Creator, have mercy.
On four-legged creatures;
Creator, have mercy.
On two-legged and winged creatures;
Creator, have mercy.
On many-legged creatures and insects;
Creator, have mercy.
On mysterious creatures and places unknown to humankind,
Creator, have mercy.
On the human family across the globe, of many colors and communities, in kinship with all creation,
Creator, have mercy.

SACRED GROUND: FINDING OUR PLACE IN THE HISTORY OF RACISM
Lead presenter, Katrina Browne, produced/directed the Emmy-nominated Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North, a documentary about her slave-trading ancestors from Rhode Island, the hidden history of the North’s complicity in slavery, and her family’s reckoning with questions of privilege and repair. Traces premiered at Sundance (2008), aired on PBS, and contributed to the Episcopal Church's decision to atone for its role in slavery. Katrina now works for the Church as a consultant on the Becoming Beloved Community racial justice and healing initiatives. She was the lead developer of the Sacred Ground curriculum which has been taken up by over 1700 circles in congregations across the country and is expanding in new ways.

Anti-Human Trafficking Network
|
|
We are proud to announce that an Anti-Human Trafficking Network is forming now!
We will be putting together a network for those that are interested in Human Trafficking. This network would provide people and parishes that are interested in Human Trafficking or working with Human Trafficking, methods of prevention and sharing ways to raise awareness. We will be sharing educational information, ideas, strategies, and programs. The network will provide opportunities not only for our parishes, and dioceses to connect with each other, but also with the whole Episcopal Church. Contact Cheryl Gray to express interest in being part of this group.

Christmas at Sea
Seamen's Church Institute
|
|
The Diocese of Northern Indiana recently hosted a presentation via Zoom with Joanne Bartosik, the Senior Manager of Development and Christmas at Sea. She spoke about the work of the Seamen’s Church Institute which was founded in 1834, including pastoral care, continuing maritime education, and mariner advocacy. Additionally, its Christmas at Sea program supplies items to mariners who are on the water—either oceans or rivers—at Christmas time, so each person receives a present to open. These packages include handmade items such as hats & scarves, toiletries, snacks, and a card.
To learn more about their work and how you can help:
· The recording of the presentation is available here.
· The PowerPoint slides may be seen here.
· Seamen’s Church Institute’s website is here.
· Christmas at Sea information may be found here.
· Information about knitting, crocheting, making cards or sewing for Christmas at Sea, including patterns, is here.

A Big Task with
Great Possibility for Efficacy
A message from the Suicide Prevention Network
|
|
It is estimated that out of any congregation, one in three persons in the pew will have been touched by suicide. They may be grieving someone who died by suicide, or they are worried about someone with suicide ideations; maybe they know someone who has attempted suicide, or they have survived a suicide attempt; or they are actively considering suicide.
With so many people effected, there is a tremendous opportunity to make a difference. As churches we can: educate ourselves about suicide and its effects; be brave enough to have open conversations; support those who have lost a loved one to suicide; and curate resources from others who are working with suicide prevention.
Suggested First Step: Have you lost someone to suicide, or know of someone who has? Here are some AFSP resources for Survivors to share: https://afsp.org/ive-lost-someone.
Remember to share this number widely:
Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273-8255 or text TALK to 741741
The Suicide Prevention Network meets monthly. Find out how to join in at this page.

Do you know a college student, either here in the Province or elsewhere? Whether or not the student plans to get involved in spiritual or religious life, it can be good to know what resources are available. To connect a student you know to a campus ministry, you can reach out directly. Find a campus ministry on this asset map. You can also contact Stacy Alan if you need help finding a campus ministry or parish near your student.
If you recognize the value of campus ministries, please remember to donate to your favorite! Find your alma mater or the campus ministry nearest you on this map.

Coaching for those who are
tired and worn out -
OR
ready for continued adventure!
|
|
Leadership Coaching can change your world.
The pandemic has been long...and some people are tired. Coaching can help you see things in new ways and create paths to move forward as a leader.
Some people are excited about all that the world has to offer. Coaching can help you clarify how you want to use your energy and help bring new things into existence.
Coaches are available to ALL leaders – clergy and lay. Any of them will offer an introductory session so you can together discern if you are a good fit. If you work in a rural area, you might qualify for free coaching. Find out more and explore coaching with a trained leadership coach!
For information on LCP Coach training or to discuss Coaching by one of the LCP Trained Coaches, visit this website or contact Province V Coordinator Heather Barta at provincevcoordinator@gmail.com or (989) 413-3229.
