National Diary Month

The Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department - Women Infants and Children (LLCHD-WIC) program is celebrating National Dairy Month this June by helping parents understand the importance of dairy, especially milk, in a child's diet.

WIC is the nation’s most successful and cost-effective public health nutrition program. LLCHD WIC is strengthening families by providing 4 core services: healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and referrals to health and social services.

Learn more about about the importance of dairy for children and the services WIC provides to families.
Playing in the dirt and
other "outside things"

June is Great Outdoors Month. Numerous studies have shown getting outdoors is good for your health in so many ways. Would you believe that letting your kids play in the dirt can help build their immune systems?

With 132 parks, 134 miles of trails, nine pools, and five public golf courses, multiple low- to no-cost opportunities abound.

Check out some special fun things to do, including a great place to play in the dirt, in our latest Health and the City column. Co-written with LNKTV Health.

Streets Alive! F St. Tunnel Project
 Mayor, partners celebrate with us

We got rained out for our ribbon cutting, but we still celebrated the completion of our Streets Alive! F Street Tunnel Community Development Project at the Mayor's news conference on Wednesday, May 25th.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln brought together partners and donors to repair and refurbish the tunnel used by residents and school kids in the South Salt Creek neighborhood for safe passage under the railroad tracks - complete with a beautiful mural by Micah Mullins.

Watch the conference to see great before and after pictures.
Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and protecting the health, wellness, and fitness of Lincoln's children, families, and seniors.

We work to improve wellness policies and conduct community level health research. We collaborate with community partners to promote healthy weights through good nutrition and fitness, improve child and maternal health by supporting breastfeeding, create better patient outcomes by increasing cancer screening and vaccination rates, improving chronic disease management, increasing preventative outreach, and standardizing clinical practices. During public health crises like the COVID 19 pandemic, we help to protect community health by providing science and evidence-based information.
Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln also works to improve health equity in our community, addressing disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest burden of chronic disease.  Systemic racism is also a threat to community health. We stand in solidarity with everyone who is fighting for greater equality and justice for all.
