Message from the Principal
Dear GIANT Families

We know that students have been back at school for a few days now, but we hope they were able to find time to rest and rejuvenate last week.  We all were in need of a slower pace, time away from screens and reconnecting with family and friends.

As a community, It is important for us to note that over spring break, we witnessed another national tragedy - this time in Boulder, Colorado.  As we keep the victims and their families in our thoughts, we also need to reflect on our own agency.  If a student is in need of a conversation or support,  please remember that our Drop-In Center is always available.

We hope you were able to take advantage of the webinar last night about our April 6 transition to full day, in-person learning.  If you have chosen in-person for your student and you still have questions, please find all necessary information on the district website.  As we prepare for these final weeks of school, we are excited to work with students both on and off campus as we continue to learn together in the fourth quarter.

Be well,
Debby Finn

Student Life
ACTIVITIES

Congrats Highland Park High School students and community for a successful Charity Drive 2021. Check out the closing video with highlights from the month and our total donation to Saving Tiny Hearts! Great job GIANTS!

ATHLETICS
Starting April 6th, student-athletes will have the ability to do their Shield Covid-19 Testing at Wolters Field on Tuesdays and Fridays between the hours of 3:00-5:00pm.  We are hoping this helps make testing more convenient knowing a large number of outdoor sports are beginning at Wolters Field next week.  Individuals still have the option to test at their regular testing time at HPHS.  Student-athletes who are assigned Monday-Thursday appointments can take advantage of the Wolters Field Testing as well.

As previously mentioned, Shield testing has moved to the HPHS Library.   There will be open testing on Good Friday (April 2nd) between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm.  Student-athletes who test on Friday do not need to follow their regular appointment schedule and can test anytime between 10:00am and 4:00pm.

Just a reminder, this weekly newsletter will now include the latest version of the GIANT Life News (GLN), instead of sending separately to parents/guardians twice a week. Click here to access our website and the most recent GLN links. GIANT Life News contains specific details about student life at HPHS and will continue to be emailed to students twice a week as their main source of HPHS happenings.
Services and Supports
Please read this document for updated information from Quest Food Services about cafeteria service and meal offerings during 4th Quarter at HPHS.  If you have any questions, please contact Assistant Principal, Matt Wallace (mwallace@dist113.org).

Also, while Shield testing is only for D113 students and staff, we know that others in our community may also be interested in testing. NorthShore is now offering same-day COVID-19 PCR testing to anyone. Please go to northshore.org/immediatecare for more information.

Last Call to Participate in 5Essentials
As part of the 5Essentials Survey, we are asking parents/guardians to take the voluntary parent survey. The survey is administered by the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education and gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes.
