Dear PDS families,

Thank you for your commitment and engagement through this extraordinary year. What a walk through the wilderness it has been! But now all around us new life is breaking through—in the trees and flowers, and especially in the growth in your children. Even on our worst days during the pandemic, their discoveries remind us that life is constantly being reborn. Our new associate priest, Rebecca (or Mother O as the children call her) reports each week on their thoughtful (and funny) stories in Chapel.

This weekend we celebrate Easter at Redeemer, and as with most things, even this important feast is different this year. We are having five different services, all of which are outside, and folks have had to sign up in advance to join us. One day soon we will gather again with our accustomed, boisterous crowds!

Two important offerings are still available to you and your family this week. On Good Friday at 1:00, members of our youth group will dramatize a “Walk Through Holy Week” that is especially geared to young children. Join us in the courtyard at the front of the church. And on Easter Sunday we have plenty of room at our Egg Hunt, beginning at 10:30 outside PDS. Links to register can be found below.

Summer Play & Grow Camp:

Play and Grow Camp is BACK this summer at Redeemer. Children, ages 2-6 are welcome. Camp will look a little different this year, but we will still provide the same creativity, growth, play and imagination. Registration will open at the end of February. Please visit our website for details. We look forward to a summer filled with friendships, fun, excitement, and exploration.

Church of the Redeemer Program Offerings:

Redeemer's youth will be offering A Walk Through Holy Week on Good Friday, April 2, at 1 pm. This is guided tour through the events of the last week of Jesus's life, intended for young children. RPDS families are invited to attend! Please click here to sign up here.

What's happening in the classrooms?

Pre-kindergarten with Mrs. Arrup, Mrs. Baker & Mrs. Knott

We hope you all had a relaxing Spring Break and we are happy to be back into the swing of things at school. Spring has Sprung in our Pre-K classrooms and the outside has been beckoning us to explore the changing campus. Something is budding, blooming, sprouting or changing color and we love using our five senses to observe all of it. Upon our return from Spring Break, we focused on all things Easter. The children painted large eggs, created a purple cross with tissue paper and learned about the Easter Story in Chapel. All of our crafts involve fine motor skills, creativity and knowing how much glue to use and where to put it. It is not as easy as it appears! We will be talking about the letter T and how it is found at the beginning and end of many words. Some of our projects will include turtles, texture, tape and teeth - feel free to count their teeth together during brushing! Don’t forget to play a game of Tic Tac Toe or Tag! There are many lessons in a simple game such as taking turns, learning how to be a gracious loser and a cheerful winner.

Program Highlights

Spring is here, and we are celebrating our seventh month in school! In March we enjoyed learning at Redeemer, relaxing during Spring Break, and Distance Learning at home with our families. We watched flowers bloom and trees bud. We painted flowers, decorated Easter bags, and went on egg hunts! It was another month of energy, joy and smiles!
