Along with food, water, and medical supplies, a good emergency kit must also include a durable flashlight and/or lantern. Not many people consider keeping another light source in an emergency kit, but it should be one of our top proprieties, especially as weather-related power outages are becoming more prevalent.
A good rule of thumb is one flashlight per family member. Flashlights or flashlight lanterns are more secure than candles to protect against fire danger. Ensure you have flashlights and extra batteries stored in any areas of the home/office that are easy to access.
